Anyone have any experience with this interface? I know Tascam has a fairly good history in recording, and all the reviews sound good, but you guys are "the cat's meow" as it were.

Thanks for any insight.

tis what i use!
i personally find it great
The inbuilt preamps on the first four inputs arent that great though, so its usually better to use an external preamp
also, you can switch between a normal balanced to guitar style unbalanced input on input 8
very reliable (for mac, used to have regular problems when using with pc)
most of the features are listed here

I own the FW-1884 (the interface + controller version), and I'm pretty satisfied with it! Can't compare it to some highend interfaces of course, but it surely sounds a lot better than all the low budget USB interfaces I heard before.

From time to time I'm getting some driver issues on PC, but nothing serious. You should have a look at tascamforums.com, I think there is a list of Firewire cards that work well with the Tascam (if you use PC).
