I find Necrophagist give me a headache after two songs... and their lyrics are just way too funny...

Obscura is like a worse version of newer Necrophagist with nothing really interesting going on and SoP are fun and catchy for a while, then they just start to sound like a clinic.

Anything by Death or Cynic. For me, Chuck's work with Death is the definition of technical death metal. The boys of Cynic worked Chuck and his influence is there as well.
