Death Metal just doesn't get much better than Here In After and Close To A World Below.

Necrophagist.
They (he) make(s) any other technical death metal sound like the fucking Clash.
Agreed to an extent....but the novelty has worn off a little with me now. I'm certainly not enjoying Onset of Putrefaction as much as I used to, and i'm even finding To Breathe In A Casket quite annoying with it's overuse of pitch harmonics, or whatever those squealing sonic taps are.

Out of the list I posted, Necrophagist are actually among the bottomfeeders for me when it comes to songwriting that I like. The only thing that keeps me coming back to Necrophagist are the solos, which are, credit due, the best in death metal as far as i'm concerned.

Again, Gorguts' "Obscura" will be the most mindblowingly technical album you will hear in Death Metal. Nothing has matched it since.
