Agreed to an extent....but the novelty has worn off a little with me now. I'm certainly not enjoying Onset of Putrefaction as much as I used to, and i'm even finding To Breathe In A Casket quite annoying with it's overuse of pitch harmonics, or whatever those squealing sonic taps are.

Out of the list I posted, Necrophagist are actually among the bottomfeeders for me when it comes to songwriting that I like. The only thing that keeps me coming back to Necrophagist are the solos, which are, credit due, the best in death metal as far as i'm concerned.

I don't agree at all.
Necrophagist are beyond some "novelty" value. The guitar/bass/drum interplay is superior to the majority of death metal bands and the songwriting is stellar. I haven't listened to the album in a while yet I still can't get Foul Body Autopsy and a few others out of my head.
I'll take them over some incoherent, brutal crap anyday.

Just seems like a lot of the time you try to add some seal of authenticity to some things as if it's the law, and completely slate others without being constructive. Not that the post in question is a glaring example though.

I just wonder how bothered people actually are about whether or not their views live up to the scrutiny that you so often fling around.

Anyone can ignore me if they like. You've got to be pretty weak-minded to be offended or 'bothered' by some stranger on a message board, particularly when he's obviously only expressing his opinions like everybody else, be it with an elitist and confident attitude.

Sometimes I just slate things without giving a reason because I've given reasons so many times in the past that it bores me.

My complaint isn't that they offend anyone, it just seems utterly pointless to reiterate these unsupported retorts just for the sake of elevating yourself seemingly. It's as if you're trying to reassure yourself of your own standing which is sad.

You say it's to give your own opinion which is fair enough, but a lot of the time it is just in retaliation to someone else's comment on the subject and so pointless. Do you have some urge to quel any rebel comment that doesn't confirm to your rigid ideals? Like anyone actually cares.

which is a fun thing to do. That's why i go to nu-metal boards and say how much each band mentioned sucks, it's fun watching them all yell at me when i badmouth say nickelback, linkin park, lost prophets, blink 182, and shit like that.
