Tell me what you think about my mixes!

Hey everyone, my band is writing for our ep and we are recording as we go so I can practice mixing enough before we commit to a certain sound. I was hoping some of you guys could critique either of the two current mixes we have. I know they are pretty bad so I need your help! Drums are Truth Custom Black and Gold samples. Guitars are Le456 with fredman angled IR. Vocals were recorded with a mxl 990 condenser

songs have potential, but the drums ruin it. the cymbals way too loud, barely could hear the snare, vocals are muffled, guitars are thin and scratchy and the bass sounds weird. but keep at it...it has potential

I have a new mix up for the song called History, I have started back from square one. Any criticism would be great!

snares super dry and robotic, guitar tone is too muddy, kick is a little burried

Thanks I'll keep at it! Any ideas on what needs to be done to the kick and snare? Everytime I put verb on the snare, everything else takes over

are you applying the verb directly on the channel strip? it works better sent to a bus

Yes i have been putting it directly on the snare. I thought that it would muddy the kick and toms up. I will try that though!
