but somehow the American Saxon fan will be blamed for this. The band, the venue and the promoter need to "promote" these shows if they want people to know. It`s a known fact that metal fans of the 80`s are pretty much older now. We don`t have the luxury of going out on weeknights like we did eons ago. Most have families now and these week night shows are simply a "no-go". Heavy Metal needs to get back to basics here in the states. Friday or Saturday nights only, one opening band and no assigned seats. General admission venues is what metal needs here in the USA. It`s a lost cause though because todays kids don`t know true talent if it bit them on their balls/clitoris. It`s a shame too. Music, especially the Nu-Metal crap totally sucks these days(with the exception of a few bands like Saxon, Maiden). There are no guitarists, no "singers"(only cookie monster impersonators)and the drummers are nothing special. Hopefully the NJ show isn`t cancelled. It`s the only one I`m attending. I`ve been doing the metal gig thing since 1979(saw AC/DC w/Bon Scott open for Nugent and Priest Hell Bent For Leather Tour open for Kiss). It`ll never be like that again and the future looks dismal for Heavy Metal in the United States. I see the end of the line coming. None of the great metal bands of the past are going to come here(USA)to play in bars that won`t sell out. That though, is the bands management. They`re to blame for the dismal state metal is in currently.King Tuskis said:I hate to play devil's advocate (no pun intended), but sometimes shows are cancelled based on low advanced ticket sales. If a band doesn't sell a certain ammount of tickets beforehand, they cancel the show. (it is still a business)
Let's hope this isn't the case. I myself am suprised on how many Saxon fans there are out there in the States, however many of them, I know, were unaware of the tour.

RayNJ said:Last time I saw Saxon was on LI, NY at Mulcahey`s on the Killing Ground Tour. There were around 3,000 people in the place for a benefit for a fallen firefighter from 9/11. It took place a few hours before Saxon hit the stage. Once Saxon came on, the place emptied out and there were about 100 total left in the place. Probably around 50 die-hard Saxon fans. Saxon totally kicked ass regardless. Saxon never really did get the respect they rightly deserve here in the USA. I doubt we will ever get to see a proper Saxon gig here(full stage set and all).
I`ll see some of you people at the NJ show, those who are going anyway. I should be at the bar around 5:30/6:00pm. I know Biff and everyone are super cool people. I was on their tour bus bullshitting for about an hour with them getting things signed and having a few beers. Hope they remember me? I helped move a fence out of their way when they couldn`t get the tour bus out of the parking spot. Just yell out RAY when you get to the bar. We`ll have a few pints before Saxon kicks our asses!!

I saw them in New Hampshire in '98 in front of about 50 diehard fans. Didn't matter then either as they kicked ass and sat around signing everything afterwards.
I'll be at the first two shows next week (assuming they still make the trip for 5 gigs). I'll look for you, Ray. I'll be wearing one of my many Saxon shirts and since I have been a fan since 1980, you can probably guess that I am not a "young" metalhead anymore!
