I know this has been covered before, but I can't remember what its called, so I can't really search for it.

You know how in some songs there will be that really low freq. rumble on the first kick of a breakdown or something? A bunch of deathcore bands do it. It almost sounds like a low frequency sine wave but I know its not.

If anybody can find the thread and link me to it that would be great.

It'll either be a microtonic kick drop (which is what I use..)..

or a sub drop.

the drop length depends on what you've got to work with, some people just use the "sub" part [as described above can be tuned to the song].

It's an interesting idea,. I prefer to hear it live than in the studio - but that's just me.

Yeah, I bet it sounds insane from the front of a pit. You can probably feel it rumble throughout your body.
