Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who came out to the 3 shows this weekend. As you can see from the videos (thanks Elvina), we certainly had a great time and look forward to doing it again. It was also really cool to meet some of you from the forum. If anyone has videos or pictures, other than the ones previously posted, feel free to post them. I'm really looking forward to next year when you can all get your hands on "UNIVERSAL". Only a few more months.

Again thanks alot and looking forward to seeing everyone again sometime next year.

Dave

It was an awesome show the 25th, Dave! One of the best performances I've ever seen of all bands I've been to. Sound was actually quite nice also! Great drumming as well! Thanks for the show :)

thank you so much guys for this fantastic experience!! it was for sure one of the best metal gigs i've ever been to! i'm sooo thrilled that you're coming back so soon, at least i hope you will come back to Holland again! You have to, now you've seen how much we love you! :headbang:

by the way, does anybody else really dig that double bass run at the "the growing seed..." / "nothing but..." part? not in the original but it sounds great!

Yeah, Dave added some brutality there, like on wacken he added pretty fast double bass on several tracks. Future reminiscence sounds extremely brutal!!!

I must say that his style is very reminiscent to Nick Barker on Dimmu's PEM, with a touch of Reinert/Asgeir/(maybe) Richard Christy; a really crazy mix of the best extreme metal drummers for me (adding Gene Hoglan and Hellhammer to the list).

Ah....when I started learning all of the songs, I wanted to aim at keeping the overall tempo and feel the same but add my own touch and make them a bit more "Holy fuck" in a live setting. Adding bomb blasts over many of Asgiers slower album blast seemed to make it flow a bit heavier for us at practice like in The Genuine Pulse and Future Rem... So it just felt right to do live. Also, I add some extra ride cymbal fills like Barker but change up some of the splash things going on. Really just trying to make it my own thing ya know? I hate when people say "BIG shoes to fill" because really, its not filling anyones shoes...its can you play it and if so can you make it just as good or better than before? On the new album, I actually dont play ANY of the Borknagar standard slow single blasts. They are all bomb blasts (at slower speeds). It just makes it flow a bit heavier. When I get back to the states, Im going to be filming some videos of me playing along to a few of the new album tracks so drummers can get an idea of whats going on.....BUT I will only be able to release them once the album has been released.

When a talented member leaves a talented band, usually people is very skeptical about the 'new' one. I guess here on the forum that feeling was gone long ago and it didn't long so much, since you're a really great drummer.

I hope you can put your signature sound/playing on Universal. I don't see musicians as replacements for a job, each artist has his own approach to art and that individual and unique vision is what I expect when someone joins a band, specially a quite technical and different as Borknagar.
