I find it is nice as a Dummy Load but not really useful for anything else.
The theory of cranking the Master Volume higher to get a fuller tone (via some Power amp distortion) and then attenuating with the Hotplate to keep the noise police happy does not really apply to modern high gain amps that get 95% (not an industry proven figure, don't quote me or crucify me) of their tone from Preamp Tube distortion. This thing sucks tone on whatever attenuation setting is used.
Sure for a Dummy Load it's perfect, any other setting and your tone will fade away.
