Well, the Italian justice system is bullshit, but could NEVER be accused of being overzealous. In my opinion, they err too much on the side of caution for defendants. So if she got 26 years in prison (it's an Italian prison...so it's not that bad) then the evidence must've been overwhelmingly against her. The Italian legal system gives two appeals to BOTH the defendant and the plaintiff, so she'll probably get much less. This thing is far from over. Also, even if she does go to jail, I'll bet you money she'll be out in 4 years. Parole is given out like candy here.
I found some things suspicious as well, but the thing that buried her is that she could never keep her story straight. When they found out the girl died, everyone was asking how in the police station, and Knox said, "How the fuck do you think she died? She bled to death." This was before any information was released to the public and there would've been no way she could've known that without having either witnessed it or known about it being done prior. Also, the window being broken in the wrong direction was a strike against her...also the fact that she pointed the finger initially at a Senegalese immigrant whom they arrested but later released after finding he had nothing whatsoever to do with any of it. Her boyfriend got 26 years as well, I think. Again, they'll appeal and this will go on for another two years, and then they'll get parole in 2 more years and be back in the states.
Don't feel bad for people going to prison here; they have their own personal tvs and kitchenettes in their "cells".
