I would like to know if there are any bands out there like Sonata Arctica.

And just so this thread isn't a total waste, others can request bands that are more like _____. We all know a lot of music so hopefully we can help each other out. Thanks!

bands like...uhm. CoB
In matter of melodies. Not vocals. And not because it's death metal. I'm not even that much of a metal guy. More of a prog rock, 80s hard rock, "guitar hero" (Steve Vai, Satriani, Eklundh) guy

If you love keyboards, amazing melodies and insane guitars well, check out the first two posts.... :Spin:

I like Steve vai and those, but i dont like Sonata and Stratovarious.. I cant stomach the vocals :(

Tis a pitty really, because i like some of the guitarwork ive heard..

Anyways, i'm looking for more music like Vintersorg, and like Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend

To be honest, I actually can't think of a band that is significantly similiar to SA.

I dunno, when I think power metal I think angra, 3 inches of bllod, gamma ray, iced earth, I sppose blind guarden, dragonforce, and... others ha! You probably heard of all of them though.

Of cousre, I am probably forgeting many other bands.

 Well I know good powermetal, I have a wide music knowledge and I still CAN'T think of a band that comes close to Sonata's sound, EXCEPT a Thyrfing covers of 'Over the Hills'.

Anything out there like Early Bodom? (something wild to be specific) where it combines Neo-classical metal with harsh vocals? No fucking clean vocals, there's too much of that with neo-classical already
