Totaly my opinion too.
I am totaly over with that polished and clean mixes, I mean its metal, harcore and what not. Its rough and tuff music why should the production sound any different ?
I want a growly bass and meaty drums

Yup. Today I gave this mix a second chance in my ipod at work.. And I have to say I'm loving this style! Especially the guitars. But to be honest I still think thet the vocalist has done better screams in the older records.

Lets look at this for what it is! Adam is a talented engineer, musician and song writer. His records sound raw, powerful and organic. All of these things TDWP do not have in them. Joey is always the 6th man with the bands he records. Alot of people say Joey ruins the bands he records and over produces. But we all know from recording bands ourselves that sometimes bands just don't have it them and need the help. TDWP knows that Joey is part of their sound and made sure to include him.
IMO Joey brings amateur musicians to a working professional level.

I think it's a sad commentary on today's working methods when we call a production like this 'raw'.
It fits the band well enough, IMO. Not a fan of the music in the slightest though.

+1. I'll agree with the sentiment that (despite what 80% of my work entails) I'm sick of over-edited/quantized/tuned mechanically clean productions, this hardly counts as an example of the contrary.

People will soon remember what brought them so close to their favorite records. Passionate talented musicians who put their heart, soul and imperfections in every record. Now its all about how much do i pay to sound like "Born of the Devil wears Osiris." Grid editing, Superior 2.0 and Auto Tune are all tools I use along with the most of us. So don't get me wrong, we provide a service and our job is to please the client. Take it easy on the engineer cause thats all of us.

i would've agreed, until zombie EP... i hated roots, thought zombie was amazing, and think this is in between... i vote zombie for the better sound. i might even call it MORE organic sounding to me than this.

Zombie is too harsh for my taste.
And I agree with the over-mechanical modern productions. Like I said on the Sturgis forums, TDWP's first album is still my favorite because it encompasses that raw style from the band that I love. IMO, TDWP isn't a band that should have a 110% "perfect" sounding production.
