The Devil Wears Prada sells 30,000 units first week(#11 on billboard top 200).

Also, I think you guys missed the part where that name comes from a book that came out several years ago (way before the band). The movie was based off the book. IMO, if TDWP actually tried to tie their own thoughts on materialism and consumerism into the name, they missed the mark, but I digress. I doubt any group of dudes would have ever come up with that name prior to the book coming out, despite their claims to the contrary.

they do have some strong lyrics in my opinion

Hey John, what's your name again?

The concept of fashion is the one to blame
Painting the portrait of conviction-less existence
Well, it must be difficult being so gorgeous!

Well, it must be difficult being so gorgeous
Claiming to be the kings and queens
But it's all of nothing.

This shall pass
Megalomania!
This shall pass
Megalomania!

Congratulations on mutilation for a life!
For a life!
Life Life Life!
Life Life Life!

I'm going to hope for you
I'm going to pray for you
Amongst the reckless and the black
Salvation lies within.
I'm going to hope for you
I'm going to pray for you
Amongst the reckless and the black
My time is your's my friend.

We all find ourselves so horribly weak!
(Oh God) here's an offering!
Here's an offering!
Offering!
Offering!

Seems like the guy was trying to make some sort of statement on vanity but couldn't keep it going for the entire song.
Some decent lines in there though, a pleasant surprise I have to admit.

you must have

dear love sold over 80k and counting
plagues sol around the same

and now the newest record, currently at 32k+

they're pretty huge for what they do, man

Those type of bands don't have the same success here, we're a bit tsunamified with scandinavian bands here

I guess I'm the only one who didn't know them here.

Nah, you guys don't understand what I was saying.

Not LITERAL money.

That follows, but those little kids EAT merch up.:kickass:

What he said
I was a total merchfag when I was 13
I had something like 10 Tool shirts, please don't laugh at me >.>

Wow, I honestly didn't realize any CD's were selling that well anymore in this day and age! Well, anything that appeals to a market that knows how to use a computer anyway (meaning, not country :D)

And yet the internet, mp3s and filesharing are killing the music industry ... I wish there was a way we could travel down an alternate path and see how many copies the new TDWP would've sold in the first week had the only means of advertising been label/distro mailout flyers and stock lists in the back of metal mags like in the "good old days when everyone bought CDs!"....

Most of the lyrics are metaphors for and veiled pieces about Christianity. I'm not religious at all, but am still impressed by how clever most of lyrics are!
