The festival headliner next year....

@ Diabolik - Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the crowd for Jag Panzer. I suppose this core crowd wouldn't appreciate a 2 hr special set of JP.

James LaBrie solo? A 2 hour special set?
I guess I don't get the appeal of that, other than maybe it would be 1 hour solo material and 1 hour of DT material, but who would want to hear a backing band playing DT songs?

I mean, for goodness sakes, I think EVERYONE here has stated many times (Aside from Met-Al) that LaBrie is DT's weakest link.

Though everyone will certainly change their tune should he end up being the headliner, and claim that his vocals are the #1 drawing point for Dream Theater, so....whatever.....

How about Jasonic?

He's never been to ProgPower before.
It would probably never happen again.
Not very expensive, since he's in the US.
Lots of people would actually like to see him at ProgPower, while others would be at the bar.

I don't know. For some reason, it seems fitting.

BEST.POST.EVER!!!!

Don't be so sure though on the "Not very expensive"

then again or maybe some sorta Savatage/JOP thing? who knows?

That's my #1 guess.
JOP headlining, doing one hour JOP, the final hour Savatage.

Let's face it. Realistically, there will never be, at least anytime soon as long as JOP / TSO / CIIC are active, a band truly billed as SAVATAGE playing a show.

I mean, of course ANYTHING is possible at any time, but who knows.

OK, so let the flaming begin, but I will go out on a limb. When Glenn says "major respect" and that the BAND requested the 2 hour set, my first thought is Dream Theater. Now I recall in the early years of PP hearing the comment that DT would not come to PP because they "don't do festivals." However, in the past few years you certainly have seen them play at a number of venues with multiple bands and could rightly be called festivals. They are also well known for playing marathon shows of 3 hours or more.

So is it possible that DT would play PP? Yes. Is is plausible? Perhaps less so.
In the end it may just be wishful thinking on my part.

My $0.02

You're right, Labrie is the weakest ling, but when you are in a band with musicians like that, MOST singers are going to come off as the weakest link to be perfectly honest. I like the guy and love his tone personally. Is he the best singer ever? No, but he fits Dream Theater like a glove and I could see him doing this, but the first thought for me was Savatage/JOP. I'm probably 50/50 in terms of it either being Labrie or them. I think if Labrie did solo material and some Dream Theater material, particularly the material he's helped pen such as "Propheting for War" I could see it.
