The Foreign Language Thread

Ok, so I'll bump this thread with a challenge. Come up with the SHORTEST word in your language that is not an acronym or an abbreviation.

In Swedish: Å (which means creek) and ö (which means island).

I don't think we have a one letter word tbh. I came up with some using two: Um (craft), Op (ape), Úl (beehive) etc.

We have cool vowelless words such as: Smrt (death), Krk (neck), Čtvrt (quarter) or Zmrd (fucker).

Smrt is like the Sanskrit word mrtyu, which means the same thing.

As you all probably know. I am creating a language.

There are 8 noun cases. Nominative, accusative, dative, ablative, genitive, vocative, locative, and possessive. I separate genitive with a possessive case to clear up ownership and something being made up of something.

There are thirteen verb stems that can be combined to create complex tenses. On the endings of verbs are conjugations for person. There are ten conjugations. There's first person singular, inclusive first person plural ("we" including the person one is talking to), noninclusive first person plural ("we" not including the person one is talking to), all inclusive first person plural ("we" including the person one is talking to, themselves, and other people), second person singular, second person plural, third person singular, third person plural, someone/something, and someone/something plural.

Nouns and adjectives are inflected for case with a prefix, and inflected for number and gender with a suffix. There are four gender inflections. There's masculine, feminine, neuter, and none attributed.

The verb structure has up to 10 pieces. There's a set order and amount of which of the verb stems can be used to create tenses. The minimum pieces of a verb is four. That would be saying something like "I am."

It's called Khalrakan. I created it for a fictional group of crocodilian people. I don't have very much of a vocabulary at all, because I'm doing the finishing touches on the mechanics. I have some words, though.

The root of "to be" is just ts. The inflections give it vowel sounds. "I am" is either peitsu (pay-tsoo), sautsu (sæu-tsoo), or shatsu (shuh-tsoo). It depends on what you're talking about. Peitsu is general, like saying "I am American." Sautsu is habitual, like saying "I am a student." Shatsu is instantive, like saying "I am in the car."
