"The Gathering Wilderness" is pretty awesome.

I just listened to Imrama the other day.

I like Imrama.

Imrama is awesome.

Max, you traded that album off didn't you, you slut?

Yeah I sort of regret that now. Oh well, things happen.

Fuil Arsa, Dark Song, Autumn's Ablaze, The Soul Must Sleep, The Cruel Sea, Gods to the Godless, Sons of the Morrigan, The Gathering Wilderness, and Cities Carved in Stone are my favs so far. Haven't heard AJE too much, or Storm Before Calm.

That's the damn Mastodon cd that I sold to some bint on Egay, she decided it didn't have the bonus track she wanted and wasn't the right version, hounded me til I refunded her the money, then was rude to me and wouldn't answer her emails appologizing for not clarifying which version it was. I hope it ended up making someone with bad taste very happy!

It's retarded comparing their albums because they're all pretty fucken good. You know what that means? Primordial are one of the best bands on the planet.

That said, I think TGW is my personal favoUrite. Probably because I've spent so much time with it (and its accompanying DVD).

@Dark One: The Coffin Ships > Guinness (unless it's got a shot of Jamesons whiskey and Baileys in it) :loco:

No but really, Guinness > *.* , but tonight I drink Stella Artois. C'est bien!

By the way, bands like Temnozor and Drudkh owe a huge amount to Primordial. Or rather, the playing style of MacCuilliam. The Burzum shitz in everything you hear just goes without saying.

truth.

Stella Artois? GOOD FOR YOU!

Funny, this album finally clicked for me about a month back as well. Unfortunately I missed all the initial primordial fellation, but now I can happily join in.

I used to think that "Odemarkens Son" was the greatest album of all time. For about two months I sort of forgot about it. Tonight I realize again, that "Odemarkens Son" is still the greatest album of all time.

SVALTVINTER? ODEMARKENS SON? OFFERBACKEN? YOU CANNOT DENY THISSSSS

I think Primordial does the repetitive folk-inflected thing much better than Drudkh, closing section of Wind of the Night Forests excepted. And I agree that it's dumb to say one of the older albums was better with no argument in every thread (something I've been guilty of on more than occasion myself)...I have no problem with debate or discussion extending to a band's entire output of course, without it none of the music threads here would stand a chance of remaining on topic beyond page one.

Primordial is really one of the bands where each album could become my favourite. I mean, it's been The Gathering Wilderness, Spirit the Earth Aflame, and A Journey's End already. Three distinct, amazing atmospheric extreme metal albums.

That Drudkh comparison... I noticed that recently when listening to Spirit the Earth Aflame, there are parts where the drumming (Drudkh's most distinctive characteristic - especially on AA) sounds like Drudkh.

I think I don't understand any possible comparison between Primordial and Drudkh.
