I sent the following email to Andy at Northern music:
Dear Andy,

As practically everyone knows, there has been a radio rip of The Grand Conjuration from Opeth's upcoming release. I do not know whether this has been already requested, but anyways, I represent the many who want the same thing.
I think it is in the band's interest as well as the public's interest to have a release of The Grand Conjuration for download by everyone since the current radio rip might have negative impacts on the new album sales due to its very low quality. Many people are complaining that Opeth are sounding too different when in reality this is most probably due to the melody lines being lost in the low quality rip.
Either way, I think that a download release for just that song will not hurt sales in any way since a single song from an 8-song album will not quench anyone's curiosity. Moreover, it will settle some people's doubts about the new Opeth.
Please let me know of the management's opinion or any developments if possible.
Thankyou very much,

Kristian

I got the reply:

I think there's a pretty good chance you're right. People, however select, have the album right now.

I'm really excited to see some official reviews. They should be coming soon.

Thanks a lot for the info Andy :)

One last question. Is the straming going to be released with the download on the 19th?

All the best and take care,

Kris

I hinted that idea on the TGC thread, too. It makes perfect sense to me that a higher quality Mp3 is released by opeth.com because a lot of the complaints come from the fact that we cannot perceive the production, which as usual, plays such a great role in Opeth's music.
