The Halo Effect - New Album 2023/2024

The new album is surprisingly consistent, slightly more so than the latest DT.

I actually like Last of our Kind, and the Heafy parts. I find it creative and interesting. I also like Mikael's vocals on that one, since it sounds different as well.
And I like the intro with the other instruments. The main guitar riff is a different style too.
Would have liked to see more guest appearances and trying some outside of the box approach.

I agree that it's creative and interesting, I just don't like how they mixed Heafy's vocals into the track. Especially the part where his vocals and Mikael's are layered atop of each other. I feel like it weakens both. The song as a whole is solid (the intro in particular is really nice), but I struggle with the vocal mixing at the end.

It's kind of unexpected and breaks the mood of the vocals. So I agree. I don't really like that part.

Holy shit, the colors there feel much more fitting with their established aesthetic. I love the normal colors and how different they are from everything else, but this just works perfectly.

You know, I only just now realized as I'm typing this out that it could just be a filter making it look like that, just judging by the background, but I took it upon myself to try to recreate it anyway. The first one used the gold from DOTL, only to realize it's too dark, so I brightened it in the second, only to realize that I didn't get the bright blue with the gold like in the photos... Except I didn't apply that to the second, so it wasn't quite correct with all the green. I ended up having to correct the blue like the third with the second one, but I think I got as close as I could- I don't think I could reasonably get the outlining on the letters like in the photos, though that's probably some texturework that can't really be replicated with simply color replacing software.

But yeah, this is what the cover could've looked like. I absolutely love it, though I do think what we got is less constraining for the cover art of their future albums.

Did some color replacing stuff to try to replicate what that vinyl would look like normally. I may do another take of it though, since I think the green that’s there bleeds too much into the black background. I think the vinyl art is actually different and not just a filter, seeing as how I had to replace the light blue with gold, but I could be wrong.

I used the Snapseed app, applied a filter and then played with settings like light/shadow/contrast etc.

(But the fact that the photos were taken under artificial light only could play though)
