I ain't even 21 yet!!!!

WOW! First time I heard Wickerman and Murders in the rue morgue
from you. It's the right time since Maiden is just playing it right now.
The show ruled. I came with 5 of my friends. I guess it's
eiteh my 7th or 8th show of IMs in San Diego. I wish you'd
come for the encore. :) I guess Wickerman was the highlight of the show
since it was new. Was Can I play madness played before?

This show also was very special coz this saturday I got to
see Iron Maidens and next saturday I'm seeing Iron Maiden.
When will that happen again? Maybe never..........

UP THE IRONS FOREVER

Thanks to Crank Yanker doing the majority of the driving, I made it to the Canes show. Thankfully the show ended early and I made it home by 3AM.

Here's the setlist:

Ides/Wrathchild
2 Minutes to Midnight

Trooper

Stranger in a Strange
Wasted Years
Evil That Men Dookie [printed that way on the setlist]

Rime
# of the Beast
Can I Play With Madness

Murders
Children

Wickerman

Hallowed
Run To The Hills

I think last night was the premiere of the Wickerman. Murders In The Rue Morgue has been played before, but maybe not by the current line up. They've been playing Can I play With Madness a lot [maybe even too much] recently, but that could have been the San Diego premiere of it.

Yes you are correct on that, Jeff - It was Wickerman's debut (finally! I've been wanting to do that one for soooo long!) and my first time singing Murders with the girls (that one is really fun live!)
This was Can I Play's debut for peeps in San Diego and for someone who has as many "local" shows under their belt as you do, I understand your feeling that you've heard it quite a bit recently- but not everyone is as dedicated in their support! :headbang: And we want EVERYONE to hear our newer adds to the song list!

It was great to see you there CrankYanker - we're so glad you made it - you looked like you were having fun! :D

Didin't Linda do a great job on the backing vox on Wickerman?!!! She really has a great high singing voice and it really makes that part come alive! hehehe - Now everybody's doing some singing and I just LOVE it!!

As with all after show meet and greets there is never enough time to our (the fans) point across. But being musicians you know what good music does to the soul. And to say the you gals play good music is an understatement :worship: :worship: :worship:

I'll be at the LB show for sure goona be a long drive home but ya only live once.
keep up the great work
Kerry
PS two questions what do you and the others do for day jobs besides the band? and is Wanda single :D :D :D :saint: :worship: :worship: :worship: She can slap me at the next show if she wants to, I'm used to it. :D

Oh I agree with you wholeheartedly about the lack of time after a show to really get to talk to each person in depth, as much as we'd like to. We appreciate so much the love we get from all the Maiden fans and the meet and greets after the show are one of the best parts. We're just glad to get a chance to say hi and thank you at least! But at least we have the BBs!! Viva La Internet! :D

I knew all the debuts for SD. :D
Wickerman works very well live.

I’d love to hear the Chicks play Wickerman! I do know that it’s kinda’ tricky solo, but it all balances out in the rhythm; plus the clean gain is high and sounds good, also the beat in the main chorus just makes my heart pound.

I have found that playing it for accuracy is better than speed, because if it’s clean an accurate, then it sounds fast.

I’ve never figured out what the song is about other than there is an old Sci-Fi movie called the Wickerman where a dude is trapped on a British island that is populates with at secret society of Pagans that do something to him.

I would love to hear that!!!!

Yes she does! I like how Wanda adds to the fullness of the vocals on Can I Play with Madness too. We didn't do Phantom this time so everyone hasn't yet heard Sara ( She not only growls, but sings too) singing the higher harmonies there! Always something new with the Maidens, eh? :headbang:

Another fun time at a Maidens show!!! Thanks Ladies!
I drove down with Jeff Milne which made for quite an enjoyable ride. Thanks for the DVD Jeff!

Yes Aja-- I was having a lot of fun singing and bouncing along with the crowd and you all. Geez, you're all so talented with your main instruments, but it is neat to see the other band members get to use their 'vocal instruments' a little too. :)

The band started very strong with Ides and a rocking Wrathchild. The crowd got into it early! I think for me, on this night, Children of the Damned was the highlight... just musically delicious... such outstanding vocal and guitar on that one. Wickerman!!! and Murders were indeed welcome surprises. Looking forward to hearing those again. Glad to see you are venturing into some 'Brave New' material... the setlists lately have definitely kept us in the crowd on our toes guessing what's next... keep it up!

At Canes there was plenty of legroom and the girls made full use of the larger stage. Sara came all the way across a few times to stand next to Jojo and Wanda for the classic '3 guitar attack' pose.

I caught a MiniMurray pick in mid-air!!! My first time ever to pull off that trick. (Well... it was kinda off the forehead of the dude next to me...:D sorry man!) Made quite a haul with the goodies- got Jojo's setlist and found one of her picks on the ground, along with a few of the MaidenS buttons that Wanda tossed out.

Empyre, the opening band were excellent! Their sound on Queen of the Reich is unbelievable! :worship: It was cool of them to invite Linda in to play Take Hold of the Flame... and the Star Wars lightsaber 'flame' was a fun and topical touch of showmanship. Those guys are cool.

Well again, a lot of fun & thanks to all! Cheers!

I know one more from ‘Brave New World’ that would make a great night clubbing song which I would love to hear them pickup, and it don’t take too much brain power from the listener’s in order to get to into it mentally, cause they are so long; it would be “The Mercenary”!

It’s not too long, and the rhythm builds anticipation and is the jewel of the song, and it comes from the picking technique.

“Thin Line between Love and hate” would be very cool too, IMO,it's a groovy tune; furthermore, “The Mercenary” and “Wickerman” I think, work as a pair.

That said I still maintain that "Brave New World" is a real pretty song. I love the way the three guitars chime together in the beginning and the singing is like getting punched in chest.
