Weird name I know, but has anyone used this thing? I saw it at NAMM and it looks like a pretty clever idea...

It's got the little threaded part on there so you can mount any kind of mic clip in there, and really position that kick mic wherever you want it. On the one hand, it would be a pain to have to tell your clients to unscrew a bunch of the hardware from their kick shell, just so you could mount your SHU, but I could imagine having a nice studio kick with that thing always in there and just getting people to use that instead.

I used it with my old band to hold an Audix D6 - we had the Shu positioned parallel to the drum head. We positioned the Shu once, then tried moving the mic a few times to get the sound we were after, but we never got it right - instead of repositioning the Shu (lack of time on our part), we just suck a mic stand in front of the drum and put the mic on the boom arm. Having said that, it is a very nicely machined part and does work quite well.

Yeah I cant remember who it was who was saying had one but from the sounds of things its an awesome piece of equipment. According to the website it can be positioned outside the drum too - into the hole in the skin - meaning you dont have to remove the skin.
