I'll be seeing THE lacuna coil in less than two weeks opening for the mighty Opeth
What is the general opinion of them here?
I have Comalies, i think it's all right.
There's good songs, especially the title track.
But i've read some reviews where people are shitting the britches over them.
I don't think they're so incredible.
But i am looking forward to seeing them live.

I love all of their albums. But in a feel-good, non-analytic way. I put them on when I just want to sing my heart out. :)

I really like the way Cristina and Andrea played off each other's vocal lines on In a Reverie. The lyrics and arrangement was perfect for two parts. But in the following albums, Cristina took the lead and Andrea's actual voice seems to have deteriorated, so I don't think he adds much anymore. I would much prefer they go back to the old style though rather than scrap him altogether.

I'ma go see them with Opeth and Yakuza(Which also sound amazing, noisecore with jazz and rock and, it's just odd. :)), I've listened to some Yakuza, and of course, I've got about 4 Opeth CD's, that I am throughly familar with. But I know nothing about Coil(Besides the lead singer is hot, sue me I'm a teenager. ^_^). Any songs you would suggest to start off?

Lol, I'll just listen to Comalies one day before the concert then. :p

it depends what sort of stuff you like, the more mellow stuff, the female vocals etc...

I like "To myself I turned" personally, get Comalies and see what you like. S'all good homie!

I think they have improved with each album, although they still have yet to make a truly great one, and will not as long as Andrea Ferro continues to do vocals. I'm seeing them with Into Eternity next month...

My thoughts exactly.

And I'll be seeing them both next month as well. I'm much more excited about seeing IE.

BUY the half life EP (ALL the songs are good) other than that get 'Falling' and 'Falling Again', that ought to get you started. :)

ummmmmmm....ok...some good songs, some boring...all the albums have one problem: the songs run together by the end.

Meh, but not a bad "meh".
