The link between B-rate horror and Metal

I'm with Craysh. Not into horror movies at all really.

You know, I LOVE horror movies, but believe it or not, I see your point.

I realized a long time ago, that you don't watch horror movies for the plot or depth. Kinda like Porn.
You watch them simply to be scared and enjoy the dark art that is associated with them, and if you hate to be scared then... there goes the love for horror flicks.

There are some really really good horror movies out there, but it seems like most of them have the dumbest plot. It's really hard for me to be completely floored by a horror film lately as much as I watch them religiously.

I do enjoy horror movies for their plots, though. Thus, I don't watch many horror movies anymore. Granted, there are a few dumb slasher/zombie movies that I consider favorites, simply because of childhood nostalgia. There are thousands of horror movies available to watch instantly on Netflix, but the time it takes me to choose one is long enough for an entire movie

I think The Orphanage is still the best recent horror movie I've seen since it was released. It's the only horror movie I can think of that actually made me want to cry, in a good way.

I agree!

Haven't seen it yet! On my list.... on my list...

Sorry that I started the thread then disappeared on everyone. I'm glad the link was finally made that I was curious about why some metal fans (like me) are also really into b-movies. I like the idea of some correlation between the gore/violence based cinematography and the gore/violence based lyrics. Listening to some guitarists like Trey Azagthoth it sounds like the song itself is just pure carnage.

I haven't seen the orphanage yet myself, but I really need to. Midnight Meat Train I liked until the 'creatures'. Seems to me that all of Clive's movies are very well done except for when we get to see his creature creations on the screen. Cenobites excluded, none of his imagination has ever come across properly on movies to me. His paintings are far scarier to me than the stupid stuff in film adaptations.

Saw this on wiki under Barker - "(2011) Clive Barker Presents Hellraiser (pre-production)". Because I'm lazy, anyone know much about this?

But more mainstream oriented, so using Metal, a genre that hasn't been mainstream popular for decades, probably wouldn't go down to well with the crowds.

Not that I'm an expert or anything, that's just my guess.

Even when metal WAS popular it wasn't the dark and brody stuff. It was more akin to ....

Lots of color, denim, and a little bit of tongue in cheek attitude.

Yup even Clive is out of ideas .....

When they remake "Into The Mouth Of Madness" then I will really know Hollywood is doomed. You don't remake a classic like that, as if NOES was bad enough.

On the other hand, one of these days Guillermo del Torro will finally get around to filming "At the Mountains of Madness" so maybe that'll keep any sort of remake of "In the Mouth of Madness" away.
