I just finished reading the book again -- haven't read it since I was like 12 but wanted a reminder before seeing the film.

Forgot how Christian it was. 'Kin hell. Aslan, you dirty beast, who's your mum? Mary? And Father Christmas turns up in one scene?! Haha.

Good bog-reading material, along with the British FHM and Empire, nevertheless.

This and King Kong should make for interesting cinematic wankery this xmas.

i coulda told you narnia was christian apologetics. cs lewis. blech. i read some of his shit when i was deciding on whether or not to believe in god. i shot huge holes in his logic and im pretty stupid. cant imagine what an intelligent critic would say.

It's been a long time since I've read those books, but I can't say I remember them being hit-you-over-the-head w/ Christianity. I always remembered them as being that way if you wanted them to, and not if you didn't care.

but cs lewis doesnt do anything without sneaking christianity in there. as far as i remember, you *could* read it without letting the christian stuff in the way, but meh, why bother. i didnt think they were that good.
i wanted to read dr. suess instead.

It was like LOTR training wheels. I read them right before I read the Hobbit and then LOTR for the first time (circa 1985 or so).

i haven't read the Narnia books. but i did read Lewis' Screwtape Letters. Kinda crap really.
