The Lord Weird Slough Feg

There is no way I could even come close to understanding that, hahaha. Still, at least you're comparing apples with apples somewhat, and not saying something retarded like 'OMG this black death metal album is more brutal vocals than teh Scalzi therefore automatically better'.

I agree with what you say about The Bastard being more consistent. In fact, I would say it's more consistent than The August Engine. The reason being, what is the most prevalent feature of The Bastard? The fact that major riffs/themes keep repeating over, with slight tweaks here or there. They represent moments/characters etc which makes it a much stronger concept album.

I mean, "You Should Have Slain Me", and the way it ties into "Tyrant Dies" just floors me each and everytime I hear them. Also, don't you think the lyrics are just hysterical at times? They're very clever in their subtle humour. At face value, people would actually think that it's just a fantasy album about an axe! :loco:

Oh yeah, I'm burning your CD-R's today. That will include another Slough Feg album for you, plus Unholy Cadaver. The demo is interesting, considering it's HoM but with death vocals....needless to say, it's not as good, but it's interesting to hear the demo anyways.

I own Manilla Road - The Deluge. I recommend it for a change of pace. They're able to remind you of doom/trad & power metal all at the same time. Very organic and earthy sounding. The best description I have that comes to mind is that it's like dragging the Mob Rules lineup through the gutter.

It is certainly a true concept album, in lyrics, sound, tone, feel, touch, smell, taste, everything.

I just like Slough Feg - Twilight more than The Bastard, but I mean both are solid 9/10 albums really. Now then we have The August Engine which.... [insert words that I don't even know the definitions of to describe the masterwork which it is].

By the way, I ordered Traveller last night so you don't need to burn me that one. :)

Yeah, it's bizarre. Last night I was talking to Chief B and he threw in references to Queen and Simon & Garfunkel to add some oddity to the equation, heh.

I'm ripping you Down Among the Deadmen matey.

:kickass:

I can definitely hear the Queen influence, and S&G maybe as well. Good goat that album rules.

Traveller is on sale at The End for $14. Get it, it's become somewhat rare.

Sentinel Steel (sentinelsteel.com) is selling it for $13.88 (but it's only worth buying from them if you buy a few CDs since they charge shipping).

Good luck. Slough Feg owns you all, so it's about time you owned them. :loco:

Did you bump this 'cuz of my question in the latest purchses thread? If so, thanks. If not, :hypno: .

Traveller is the greatest "true metal" album I have ever had the pleasure to hear. It is THAT good. Right behind it is Twilight of The Idols.

Thanks for the update knee-grow.

You asked a question about this in another thread????? Heh, yeah I saw that, but felt that this thread needed bumping anyway. Plus Erik said he'd get back to us with his thoughts on "Down Among the Deadmen". Maybe one of these days he'll let us know his thoughts. *shrugs*

Heavy Metal Monk is a fuckin amazing song! I've been digging these guys for many a month now, but I must still pick up their stuff. Check their official site, they're selling.. the S/T, TotI, and maybe Traveller. Can't remember. I think they have a shirt on there too.

Hi, I was completely wrong about Traveller, this shit rocks. It is no Twilight of the Idols, but nothing much is.

Yea, i've been listening to Traveller a lot lately. Cool nerdy concept, and nice music to back it up! These guys have to be one of my favourite bands lately, can't wait for Atavism next year!

Out of Traveller, Dead Men, and Twilight, Twilight is BY FAR the best. The Irish/Scottish/someotherrandomhooligan shit is the best.

Oh yeah but still, Auguest Engine >>>> the other stuff. :D

You guys are such extremists. Next thing you know, you'll be strapping bombs to your chest and running into the GMD. :loco:

If one album is better than another, and they're BOTH good then ok, fair enough. So what I don't get is how one *great* album is "BY FAR" better than another *great* album....or how one *great* band "FUCKING CRUSHES" another *great* band.

This is me -> :cool:

This is you lot -> :loco:
