I'd venture to say Devourment might be a bit much for your casual deathcore listener. >_>

lol yeah i phase out and when it's over im like hhhmmmkay wtf just happened

the genre doesnt have to be something-core, i consider any segment of a song where...
- the tempo changes
- a short but heavy as fuck riff is played repeatedly/intermittently with some cool pauses
- the vocals are minimal, just for accentuation
- the whole thing has a fucking steady and catchy rhythm that is totally headbangable and pelvic-thrustable
...a breakdown.
