The Official Best Albums of 2008 Thread

I disagree and stand by my comment:

Guns ‘N Roses – Chinese Democracy (Geffen)

Man is this the best Axl could do? Just think what he would have done if he had been given a 9 month deadline to write and record an album?

It's simply not a strong album....It would have been worse if the classic line-up would have taken part....

well thats just my opinion. i think its a great album and no one really knows how long it took for axl to write these songs. he could have written them all in 1 year and took 8 years to record them. also supposedly there are 2 more complete albums that have yet to be heard.

also according to some guy on the allman brothers forum GNR hasn't been on geffen records for years but i think he's full of crap

i'd like to drop ac/dc fromthe 10 sot on my list and put souls of we-let the truth be known instead. its much better than the ac/dc album

From what I understood, they were dropped from Geffen for making an $8 Million album.

JOURNEY: Revelation

This album seems to be coming up quite a bit. I think they truly have been reborn with Arnell on vocals. I've yet to watch the bonus DVD but the new material and re-recorded stuff is great.

It should. It's damn good and perhaps the best album they made since years.
I had the incredible luck to see them live in Germany in February 2008.

Check out the bonus DVD with the album. You'll be surprised.

Btw I hear things are not all well in the Journey camp. Arnell is missing his family a lot during touring. I hope this does not spell trouble for the band.

It seems to be serious although it is not official news.

Some of the ones that stand out are Bonded by Bloods "feed the beast", Cavalera Conspiracys "inflikted" and Guns n Roses "chinese democracy".

I believe Ihsahn second album came out in 2008 and I thought it was very good as well but I havent given it a proper judgment yet.

Well being 16:45 (GMT-6) I guess I will post my final version of the top ten, I still waiting for an album that alas it will make it on 2009. This year was difficult for me because there were genuine good albums but not all can make the higher positions, the first 7 were pretty easy but from 8 down it was one hell of a continous shuffling (and I'm not pretty sure the numbering is right). Movies

I didn't went much to the cinema or pick DVDs this year, other interest dominated

  3. "RocknRolla"
  4. "Iron Man"
  5. "Wall-E"
  6. "Hulk"

Didn't attend any concerts, and the only formal music DVD I bought was the Dream Evil One.

I still can't believe you've got Alestorm that high given your initial dislike of the album.:loco:

Here's a GREAT review of Quantam of Solace.

Well the first listening wasn't good and I got a little off by the vocals but unlike the Judas Priest disaster this really grow on me, same with Poisonblack, the album grown a lot but there was so many material I judged better and catchier it stuck at 12. Besides the Alestorm album is the closest I have to a new Skyclad album and I've been waiting a lot for a new one from them.

As for the review, is like Dirty Harry said say reviews are like assholes we all have one :heh:

Hell, how did I forget to mention this one?!:zombie:
I'd go further than saying it was solid. It pretty much knocked my socks off. Very impressed.

Also, nice to see Judas Priest Nostradamus creeping into some other peoples lists!
