It serves as both a recommendation list for you and a list of what I have so that you will be better able to recommend me things that I haven't heard. Do you think some kid who is in day 1 of listening to metal is going to check out all those bands you listed? What a complete waste of time. We already have the "thread where you talk about music you like". I'm always peeved when people are asked for a recommendation, and they list 45 fucking bands. How about just 1 good band? If you take someone out to eat, at a place they have never dined before. When prompted with the question..."What do you recommend?". Do you say, "Oh try the whole menu!" Or do you wisely say, "I'd go with the meatloaf". What's more helpful in your opinion?!?!!??!?!

It's obviously more convenient if you have an entire list to go by, separating the bands into different genres to see all at once. He did it with the intention of providing a basis for someone to add on, not just the generic recommendation that gets repeated over and over again. Therefore, shut the hell up.

Whoever said this was a recommendation thread for people who just got into metal yesterday? The majority of people on this forum have been listening to metal longer than me, doesn't it make sense that I would make a thread trying to recommend bands to someone who has been into metal for awhile? I'm not trying to appeal to the metal newbie. I'm trying to appeal to the majority of this forum. The purpose is to find new bands. The only way to do that with people who have been into the genre for awhile is to have a comprehensive list.

The point is to list good bands that haven't been mentioned yet; not to be a fag.

You can go through the first 10-12 pages of my stickied thread alone and get tons of recommendations, even personalized ones. You can ask for bands in there too. In fact, the board should just be destroyed and the name of the sticky should be changed to "Where People Go To Talk About Music."

Then why is Iced Earth on the list? If you have only been listening to metal for 20 minutes... You have heard of Iced Earth. And that goes for alot of the bands on the list. I'm not trying to be a douche. Just trying to point out that this thread is feces.

Edit- I see that the list is a reference list to help people not recommend bands in which you have already listened to. So "Oops" on my part. But regardless. This could of easily been posted in the "stickied" thread.
