that pic is so good i still cant get over it! ;p One think i never worked out in photoshop is how to pull out part of an image so that you get no background crap. Hows that done? E.g. say you had a bacon sandwich with a table in the background, is there a way that you can auto cut it out of the pic? Or do you have to cut manually?
Probbaly sounds unclear lol. What the hell, im a photoshop nub!
how about this one dudes:
Funny how this thread went from the new Metallica album to Photoshop how-tos.
I find the best way is to zoom in and with a small eraser, say 5pxls, and manually erase round the object you want to cut out. Then delete the background. If you just try to select the background with the magic wand tool will always leave in rogue pixels around the object you are trying to cut out. It takes longer this way but you get the cleanest results.
More interesting!
No man, it's just the most basic stuff in photoshop!
It's just all about getting the right contrast, sharpness and colour between objects in the foreground and background, and then making sure light sources and shadows are as consistent as possible. It's amazing what you can do with the layer styles function (i.e. 'overlay', soft 'light' etc). I usually always put a very feint layer of a solid colour (like a yellow one in my last picture) over the top of everything once a piece is finished, and set the layer style to 'colour' and maybe around 15% opacity.
But seriously, the hue-saturation-colour and brightness-contrast functions, as well as the layer styles are amazing and can do so, so much. They're my 5150, tubescreamer and SM57 of photoshop haha
You *could* do this, but it's tedious and not undo-able.
Pen tool/paths and Layer masks are far superior in flexibility and speed ...
Anyone notice the Metaliban St. Anger on the music player?
If Max Cavalera can still sounds as brutal as ever, I am sure James can pull something off.
