This is quite amusing, its funny how many people say things like "X fans are the most single minded people ive ever seen". Whether its tool or opeth or metallica or whatever, its like its a crime to find a band you really like.
For the most part, this forum has the most SINGLE minded retards, than a SPECIAL ED CLASS.

Ive found the range of different musical tastes on this forum quite good... theres talk of bon jovi, cat stevens, yes/genesis/etc, classical music, death, emporer, etc... Theres a constant stream of people asking "Have you heard of this band?" and without fail theres always a few people who liek the said band, and a few people who hate the said band. Now to have come to this board and registered generally means we're fairly big Opeth fans, which means obviously our musical tastes are going to have a lot of similarities so there are a lot of threads about melodic progressive metal or whatever. That seems obvious to me and is the same no matter where you go.
I come here, and all i find is a bunch of ppl who would rather SUCK miks dick than to eat.
Which translates to "I come to an Opeth forum and all i find is people who like Opeth". So your saying if someone finds a band that has a large effect on them emotionally, and for them its personally the best thing theyve ever heard (by 'best' im not talking technically, im talking on the emotional level, which for Opeth fans is what they get from music)... that they should then not be thankful?
You know the conversations you see here are for many people the only time they ever get to talk about their music, they dont have friends who like the same music, they get treated with the attitudes displayed in the "Saddest thing you ever heard?" thread. So while it may appear as though all these people think about is Opeth it really isnt that much, because absolutely none of their time outside of the forum is spent even uttering the word "Opeth".
I know why you dont like theother forums, they are open minded and talk about other things rather than....

Theres a "now playing" thread. Two threads on songs that the board members have written. Threads on: Novembre, Symphony X, Kalmah, Vikingligr Veldi. A thread on Trigun which i think is anime or something maybe? A thread on boring songs, a thread on how much music sucks. "Saddest thing you've ever heard?". etc etc
And the Opeth related topics:
a thread by a newbie asking about if there is a connection between Still Life and MAYH.
a thread by a newbie about an Opeth jumper he's bought.
a thread about an opeth desktop theme. with no replies so far.
Opeth milwaukee video. 4 replies.
a thread about bands who do similar music to Opeth
etc
etc
Seriously are these threads unreasonable? Remembering that this is an Opeth forum. I can count 39 responses total to Opeth threads on the first page. And i dont think thats anything unusual.
And then i dont think we need to talk about the Off Topic section.
Almost every member will think that those Opeth topics are pretty boring and uninteresting, but we help out those who ask questions, same way we help out if we can when people ask about non-opeth related stuff.
As I said, not every memebr of this hole on the wall is being targeted, just about .....hmm 97%.
Your comments are valid for a small portion of members, i dont think its as many as you say though. If we have 100 active members here, and each says "Opeth are so good" once a year, then thats once you are going to read that every 3 or 4 days. Think about that, because over the course of a year there are many more than 100 people who will post here.
to sum things up....FUCK YOU, and your one track MIND. Ill betif you were a my pals,,....your fav artis would be SNOOP DOG(or, it could be anyway)
That implies we follow a trend of some sorts, where for most people they found Opeth all by themselves having never heard of them before, and there is no real image associated with Opeth either, no crowd to follow, no crowd to feel a part of. The possibility is the 'goth' type thing where we could be rebelling but i dont think its that either.
Anyway, interested to hear a response to this. Im gonna make an effort over the next few weeks to see if we really are as single minded as you and others say we are.
