There are beautiful parts of the desert, but most of them still require a measureable amount of vegetation or just mountains. Plus, the only time you can enjoy them is the winter, during the summer it's just too brutally hot to enjoy anything except being right on a river. No such thing as spring/fall really.

Edit: The weird thing is, I have been here so long, that even though I enjoy trees/green, I get semi "claustrophobic" when I visit home. It's going to be weird going back to NC when I get out of the Marines. I am very used to the wide open spaces.

The Colorado River that runs through town. I'll try to have some pictures up from the next float I go on. Floating down the river with a shitload of beer is about the only enjoyable outdoor past-time here during summer days, other than being at someone's house who has a pool.

Always a good time, every year i do something similar up in Wisconsin Dells on a canoe trip. We usually tie 6-7 canoes together and float down the river getting shitcanned all day. The best part is you don't have far to go to piss

The Colorado is usually no more than knee to waist deep here, so we just use tubes/inflatable rafts, and use paracord to loosely tie them all together/to the beer raft.
