The pics thread

Actually China has in the past had laws that restricted family size, but I don't know how the situation is now, because its population still seems to be growing fast. India the same, but I don't know how the government is addressing that. The fact that these two countries have advanced enough to provide more efficiently for its citizens is why diseases like HIV and whatever else aren't running rampant (and thus a boon to population growth) like in 3rd world countries with weak governments.

Doesn't China kill your children if you have more than 1?

Diseases ARE running rampant in those areas, not to mention the horrid reality of child prostitution. Outside of the burgeoning cities is a whole different reality (though in India, the cities are still pretty fucked). "Born into Brothels," a documentary, is a good reference point.

The One-child policy in China makes it so if you have more than one child they fine you a very large amount, although if your first child is female or disabled they let you have another. It's estimated that the population of China is 300 to 400 million lower than it otherwise would have been (:zombie:). They still have an increasing population and the policy has caused lots of problems such as having too many men, the human rights ambiguity of controlling people's reproduction and having two few children to support the previous large family.

Hardly anybody dies of undertreatment of diseases here and yes, a VERY large part of Calcutta is incredibly fuxxored.

Yeah, they still have that law, but it isn't really effectively stopping population growth.

No. It's not really a huge deal, tbh. At least, according to my Chinese teacher. Who is Chinese. From China. And thus probably a reliable source of info about this shit.

More recent picture of me from St. Patrick's day at some random party. Excuse the shit-eating grin if you don't mind as well as the crappy quality of the photo.
