The pics thread

I can't tell if you're joking, or if you're just being incredibly retarded.

Or it could be that you're just incredibly fucking naive to believe that a country's citizens will never revolt? You should know all about this given that you're a history major and that history is doomed to repeat itself. I guess I should restate my theory and say that it's definitely possible, but it's not definite

The conditions for revolution are far from being reached. A significant percentage of the population is living stable, safe lives and those who aren't have no means of organizing any form of "resistance" capable of challenging the governmental system that has become so bureaucratically entrenched within all our social systems. In an age of instant communication the US government, which has access to the most advanced technology in the world, can locate any credible threat and neutralize it, oftentimes surreptitiously and preemptively.

A revolution will never happen, nor is a significant uprising/revolt likely to happen because it requires too many people to coordinate it, and those who would most likely revolt lack the resources to coordinate such a useless attempt.

Now you may also think a coup d'etat is possible by means of assassinations etc., well again I must say that the government is far too coordinated to be subverted.

No problem. My main point is that instant communication has allowed governments to watch their backs exponentially easier than in past ages. Just look at the Roman Empire. If there was a revolt in a distant province, it would take weeks for the Roman government to learn about it, and it wouldn't be until over a month before any soldiers were sent to settle the revolt, enough time for the rebellion to gain significant momentum and become a serious threat to contain for the Roman army.

If the Roman Empire had the technology we do today, they would learn of the potential rebellion through various types of media, such as the internet, and be able to stop the threat via airstrikes and airborne troop deployment, and the threat would be neutralized long before it would have chance to gain a following.

The American Revolution was able to happen because of the 3,000 miles that separated us from Great Britain. These days, distance is no longer an issue.

Only problem with that is if you harness the energy incorrectly, you blow up the world..

Nucelar fission is more potentially destructive than fusion, and we've already proven that fission, even when not contained, cannot destroy anything larger than Rhode Island (sorry Doomcifer).

To your credit, though, we were a bit inebriated when we had this discussion initially, but if you have a source, I'll be sure to read it. I'm most likely seeing him tonight, so I'll be sure to have this conversation when we are both sober so I remember exactly what he says.

Isn't the main issue with fusion that you need something that can contain all the energy needed to make fusion work correctly? It takes an immense amount of heat to allow fusion to work.

lol. you are so ass backwards you have no idea.
Its called practice and training.

and how do you know it wouldnt have helped her.
People are always getting out of those situations because they have a firearm.

The police cannot always protect you. You must protect yourself.
I hope no one ever breaks into your house. You can call the cops and they will show up (in however many minutes) to find you dead on the floor.
Okay.
1. Are you willing to kill someone to keep your wallet?
2. Life isn't a movie. In the movies having a gun saves someone. In real life, having a gun makes a nonviolent confrontation violent.
3. Statistically, having a gun in the house increases the odds that you will die in a robbery.
We need to develop nuclear fusion power before its too late.

Rabid may be gone, but his spirit lives on!

what do you think i should do? let them take my hard earned cash for fear of confrontation. fuck that. people like you are the reason there is so much crime. criminals know they can just walk into someones house and take what they want because theres no danger in it. why should i let the scum bags of society win?

"Statistically, having a gun in the house increases the odds that you will die in a robbery." source?
