The pics thread

I don't get why Americans love Ireland and Irish heritage so much. Ireland had some kind of important point in history when the kept some classical texts that were otherwise lost or something, a hell of a long time ago, long before modernity, but other than that, they haven't really done much more than say, the Armenians or Bulgarians.

It's not Ireland, it's Irish heritage. Same with Italy and Italian-Americans. They were shat on for a while - until recently really- and now they're loud and proud.

In regards to the Black Irish/Red Irish thing, my family is "black irish", and as I understand, the Black Irish are the descendants of the Gauls. Red Irish implies those who came from Scandinavia and the UK I believe. I could be completely wrong though

That could be true too. I've also heard it could be Berber blood. I'm cool with having Gaul, Spanish or Berber blood-- as long as I'm not Anglo.

Says the depressed racist Englishman who lives in his mom's basement.

... something i would only come to expect from a fucking stupid, ignorant white boy.

Armenia's rich history goes back before this cunt of country even existed.

Oh and did you forget that the whole east coast of the united states was basically built on mainly Irish labor?

... go open up a book you fucking retard.

It's so easy to call someone ignorant. Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Britain were probably the most influential European countries by some margin. Many of the others had Empires but they were relatively small, only encompassed other European territory and ceased to exist long before modernity.

Ireland basically got raped, A LOT, by vikings and then by the English, right up until the 20th Century. They have had no great influence in the development of the modern world or Western culture, other than keeping certain classical texts safe for a while. This sounds harsh and kind of anglo-supremacist, but it's true.

Americans tend to minimize Britain's importance in shaping the world or see it as "raping and pillaging" but I honestly think that's just the influence of a kind of all purveying national propaganda scheme in which Britain is invariably seen as a small, old fashioned forgotten thing. Honestly, I don't think any other country has even been as influential. It's pretty pretentious to minimize to the extent that most Americans do really.

The East Coast might have been built on Irish labour, I'm not sure, but is the origin of a workforce all that important? I suppose it is in a kind of apologist, post-whatever history, with large amounts of Guns, Germs and Steel as the reading. Where did your units come from? Where did your language come from, where did your law come from? Where did apple pie come from? Where did fox hunting come from? Where did a lot of important post-classical philosophy come from? WASP culture and early political dominance shaped America to be the country it was at its height.

More pictures, less bullshit.

The cutest thing I've seen all day, except for my son, of course:

That's just the way it is sometimes, m_c. My boyfriend has brown/reddish hair but blondish colored chin hairs. I think it's hot and not creepy at all.

i'd always been told that if a guy's beard and scalp are 2 different colors that it's a nutrient deficiency or stress or something like that, you know, that it's not normal

but i guess in some people it could be normal, like a calico cat or something

Well, without going into great detail, he does have an incurable disease which he was born with. It has caused a great deal of stress in his life so that could have something to do with the "calico" hair.

a buddy of mine had cancer twice and when he went into remission, his beard started to grow back. He's El Salvadorian, so he's always had thick black hair, but this time his beard grew in a reddish-orange color. Radiation does weird things to the body

this^^ makes sense

but a guy's hair and beard being different colors without radiation exposure seems like it would be some kind of health problem

My boyfriend has a condition he was born with. I'm not going into detail as to what it is, but it's a very rare disease. This coupled with the stress of life/dealing with the illness could be a cause behind the multicolored hair. But still, it looks nice to me. :)

Also, Krig's breakfast looked fucking incredible. Food boner.
