The pics thread

Fuck we get ripped off on booze here. 20 years ago when I drank Rare Breed it was about $40 but now it's between $80 and $95. Jeffersons is up around the same price although the Reserve is not readily available at all shops. Four Roses easily tops $100 a bottle but is available in so few places it may as well not be available.

Dingo dollars don’t help I’m sure. But hey I’ve always wanted to try Starward and I have no access to that at all. I’m going to assume you do lol.

Governments who see tax on booze and smokes as it's saviour is the big problem. Tax on smokes is something like 65% of the price and indexed to rise twice yearly. Booze is taxed by the alcohol content and rises biannually (I think). It does suck but it's one of those things that allows us to have free healthcare...and corrupt politicians.

Starward Single Malt is good but at $125 a bottle I will say it's not worth the price. There is cheaper alternatives straight from the distillery which can be as cheap as $65, or one they call a "whiskey cocktail" as low as $45 but there is also a top end option where it can be personalised, as in "made for ..." which has an increased alc content and a bigger bottle for $165.

tbh I have no idea what “about what you’d expect from a $60 bourbon” means because you’re basically in range for tons of great stuff before it gets totally overpriced and ridiculous. That being said Rare Breed is like $46 here and Four Roses single barrel is like $41 and those are my personal gold standard for the prices.

tbh I feel like Jefferson's is basically overpriced juice in a really nice bottle, (or gimmicky stuff like the aged at sea) in general, but I’d be glad to be proven wrong.

Everything in that price range that I encounter just seems to end up feeling like someone else's take on Blanton's, and I never loved Blanton's. Too sweet too soon, and smooth to the point of I dunno, just being soft.

Not exactly clear, but first time I've seen the septal occluder inside my heart on x-ray (right side of pic), pretty funky.

@Krigloch the Furious let me know how that Jefferson is. Laphroaig is awful to me. The smokyness is fine but the medicinal qualities of it are repulsive. Reminds me I need to have some Lagauvlin again or maybe Ardbeg. Fuck yeah on the Rare agreed though.
Laphroaig is my favorite. Love that stuff!
Jeffersons is awesome. Way different. Smooth and sweet. Not like a typical bourbon at all. Big fan
Currently drinking this Wild Turkey Rare Breed. I dig it. add a little bit of water because it's 116.8 proof

laphroaig is a fav of mine too but i understand why it’s divisive haha, it’s basically TCP meets burning wood.

ardbeg is good as well, lagavulin is probs my favourite of all though. always been an islay guy

Im probably a bit of a masochist but i drink Rare Breed and OGD 114 neat. I don’t like to water down barrel proof stuff.

I found my first bottle of Eagle Rare this year, yesterday. Fucking pumped. I also bought a bottle of Ardbeg 10 to try and just dive into peat and see how I feel about it.

love the peat!
Eagle Rare is so close to Buffalo Trace that I'll save my money and just drink BT. It's my go-to anyways
I'll drink the Rare Breed straight up soon
Tonight is D&D! A game that's been going on for 10 years or so. Totally going to drink some Laphroaig
Love Ardbeg and Lagavulin too. Been a while though.

Starting a job at the Post Office so I'll actually have money for cds, bike shit, record player, and everything else I've wanted for the past however many years.

Maybe it’s because it’s so hard to get here and the chase makes it better but for around $30 there’s no better bourbon for me than Eagle Rare.

For stuff in the $18-30 range I would probably say...

Eagle Rare > WT101 > Evan Williams Bonded > Buffalo Trace > Old Forester 100

but they’re all good really. Seems like there’s an infinite supply of good whiskey in the states. Makes me extra cringe when I see someone buying Seagrams 7.

Did so much meth that I got thinner...
...Yay???...
Brand new pic of me in an old baggy shirt that used to sort of fit me before I slimmed down
