Thanks! I bought it specifically for Half Life 2 and Doom 3... too bad both are set back indefinitely...SculptedCold said:That's....like.....the most awesome computer a civilian could possibly have..... lol
Surfing the internet and playing games... some graphics editing and some html scripting.Aecliptica said:what do you use your computer for mostly xeno?
Yeah, its horrible. I'ma gonna get me an ATI Radeon 9600 as soon as possible.SculptedCold said:heh, we've both got the same sucky vid card.
At least HyperThreading works.Erik said:Well, that's marketing-speak rather than tech-speak, but good enough... Just thought it looked silly to emphasize teh HYPER-THREADING TECHNOLOGY!!! like that, because that's exactly what Intel likes to do... attempt to look better than AMD by capitalizing on stuff like MMX and hyper-threading which aren't really the mega-innovative revolutions they make them out to be. Not that AMD is much better.

Eventually. The nForce3 WILL kick ass, but there are just too many problems, especially with video cards. I don't want to pay money to be a lab rat...Xenophobe: The Nforce3 will kick ass eventually, new chipset's out soon and should be great. However, an A64 3200 even now owns your Pentium and my lowly Athlon
xenophobe said:And the Athlon 64FX doesn't own the P4 Extreme Edition 3.2, which is roughly the same price.
yeah, they were talking about how great it was... I don't remember if they even mentioned the computer having it or if they were just talking about it to make themselves feel smart... might've been a 2.6, sometimes it's hard to remember 4 or 6...xenophobe said:A pentium 2.4 doesn't even support HyperThreading.
But, that's not exactly how it works... Hyperthreading is a second pipeline to take advantage of unused processing power, basically during waits on the initial pipeline, but the OS and/or Application must support it.
It's not really THAT much of a big deal, but it can increase performance 5-10% when an application can actually use it.
