Started a speed metal band called Hypertension. We're amazing and drummerless, yet still better than most bands who call themselves speed metal these days.

A fair few. I got sent a Steel Panther interview where they referred to themselves as speed metal and I grew so enraged that I started spitting acid at dogs
Fair enough. Reminds me of that Scrubs episode when Lloyd refers to Devildriver as "speed metal", I guess it's just a term used by the mainstream media to describe any metal that sounds even slightly intense to them.
Speed metal = Exciter, Accept, first two Razor albums, Motorhead (to an extent), Killing Is My Business

After scraping through the semi-final at the gaff last week (K.O'd from hellfest and ill) we are through to the final.

wouldn't surprise me if it was the same competition! it is partly based on attendance and some judges who are guys from the festival.
i think we got a shot but i'm not going to hold my breath. quite a it of metalcore to contend with so i'm just hoping the judges are old school.

I will never take part of any band competitions again sincenthey're almost always either rigged or extremely bias.
My first ever performance was a battle of the bands thing, and we lost - despite having the best attendance of the show since everyone left afterwards saying it 'wasn't going to get any better than that' - because the final band's parents were on the fucking judging board.

Yeah... I would never take part in a Battle of the bands for those reasons. I couldn't make myself go that low. Bloody nob end judges.
