Yeah it's me. It's not Ince's fault Friedel is leaving, Aston Villa have offered him a longer contract with more money and it's his last chance at a hefty signing on fee. Plus I think Randy Lerner has agreed to finance this stupid academy thing in America. not a lot Ince could do about it, Ince doesn't want to hold brad at the club against his will, especially after all brad's years of loyal service. Plus Ince only accepted the Villa bid subject to our bid for Robisnon being accepted, who I personally believe is a fantastic keeper given a lot of unfair abuse.
We haven't agreed anything with Fowler, we are just letting him join us on our pre-season training. If his fitness and ability holds up to sufficient standard then Ince will consider offering him a deal. At least we wouldn't be spending any money on transfer fees.
Ince had a very difficult task as soon as he joined, first he had Hughes reputation hanging over him, then our best player - Bentley - wants out, a whole host of clubs are sniffing around Santa Cruz. So far he's looked very astute in the transfer market, bringing in Chilean player of the year Villanueva, holding out for Bentley and obviously doing enough to convince Santa Cruz to stay for the meantime. If the Robinson thing goes through as well, he will have made the best out of a difficult situation with Friedel.
