The reasoning behind low passing at about 10-12KHz: Why not simply lower?

I tried putting a lowpass at 8,5 kHz on the guitar bus today, and I really liked it. I'll have to experiment further...

I like low-passing at 10khz, occasional boosts past 8khz. Killer.

The Reason?
I like it, and I don't need to debate. It's audio engineering. There are no rules.
