I usually don't talk about music with anyone down here unless it's with people from local bands, they're pretty much the only ones that know what I'm talking about. Everyonce and a while I'll get them into a new band, but they generally have heard everything I have.

I'd say what pisses me off is people that are into metal but have zero respect for the bands that started metal. Who call any death metal band in the 90's uninspiring, call Slough Feg cheesy, say Cirith Ungol the reason why people think metal is a joke, think Slaughter at the Souls is AtG's best album, and say black metal isn't an art.

Wait, that's all the people in Iowa....Except the crust kids, they love old school heavy metal and doom....

That or they do not know any of the founding bands. I know this whole group of people who claim to love metal, but do not know shit. I was talking about Celtic frost once and not one of them knew who they were. All of these people are also obsessed with Opeth and they are about as "underground" as they go.
