As do I.

We should start a club.

The, comma, abusers, VIP, lounge,-- The Commatosers, or maybe, a soup kitchen for people, with, delayed, speech, or, other language/speech impediments.

A semi-colon avalanche is imminent; just give it time.

I had an english teacher who, after noticing that I was the only person in class to properly use a semicolon, told me this: "Picture a little jar. In it is about 50 semicolons. You only have that jar full to last the rest of your life...which is no big deal because you don't actually need them at all."

Well said, and true. Commas and semicolons are interchangeable in many cases. It's just that commas conjoin parts of sentences, while semicolons conjoin whole sentences.I think they were simply created for the express purpose of complication.

I am moonlighting as a freelance editor for an office that provides translation and transctription services to various customers,(transcriptions of conferences, lectures, court sessions, etc), and I often get to correct whole blocks of text that are simply infested with commas, and no period in sight. It's irritating as hell.

WELL THEN MAYBE I WILL START TYPING AND TALKING LIKE A ROBOT ALL THE TIME BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO OFFEND PEOPLE WHO DISLIKE THE NORMAL AND PROPER USE OF PUNCTUATION BECAUSE THEY JUST WANT TO LOOK SMART AND COOL AND HAVE A BIG E-PEEN BECAUSE IT MAKES THEM FEEL GOOD AND AWESOME AND APPARENTLY THEY DON'T KNOW THAT SOMETIMES PEOPLE USE SLIGHT PAUSES WHEN SAYING SOMETHING

P.S. If you think that's comma abuse, you haven't read Wuthering Heights.

That would be awesome. I only brought it up because you mentioned being a grammar lover, and I'll pass on anything by any of the Brontes

It's unbelievable how terrible the general population's grammar is. Ugh...I vote that semicolons should be removed entirely, and that everyone should take a refresher course on grammar at the age of 28.
