To be honest, I have a variation of sickle cell anemia, which normally is only recognized and classified by the military, and you're right, sickle cell and its variations occur in less than 1% of all caucasian males. (We are called that due to our ability to cross the mountain range following our descent from monkeys in Africa, Creationism be DAMNED!) The disorder I possess is called GPD-13, because it refers to a mutation in the 13th amino acid on the GPD protein, which is important to red blood cells though not vital and generally makes me more suscecptible to dehydration.
