THEOCRACY to re-release first album

Theocracy vocalist Matt Smith comments on the re-release;
"A lot of people ask us how to get the debut Theocracy album, which is long out of print. Well, you won't have to wait much longer, because it's going to be re-released through Ulterium Records! We went through a lot of discussion about how much we wanted to rework it: Do we re-record the whole thing with the new lineup? Do we just release it as-is? There were a lot of ways we could go, but ultimately we decided that people love that album and it's a snapshot in time, so we didn't want to completely redo something people are attached to. We'd rather present the best-sounding version we can of what's already there, with one change that seemingly everyone wants to hear: real drums! Shawn's going to record drums to the tracks that are already there, and then I'm going to remix it, so it should be killer. Right now I'm going through the tracks and trying to get everything organized and usable (some of those recordings were really bad!), and soon we'll be ready for Shawn to lay down the drum tracks. Keep checking in, and we'll keep you posted as it unfolds!"

The latest Theocracy album "As The World Bleeds" was released in Europe on November 25th through Ulterium Records, in North America on November 21st through Nightmare Records and in Japan on April 25th through King Records.

"As The World Bleeds" debuted at #40 in the Billboard Heatseekers Chart during the first week of release.

I'm really anticipating this one. The music on this recording is among the most powerfully emotional power metal in existence; several songs overload on that. A remix with real drums sounds like the most reasonable option. I checked the dynamic range on the original version and, by a wide margin, it's the best of the three Theocracy albums; most likely, clipping is difficult to avoid during the intense chorus vocal tracking, and most of the clips are indeed during vocal sections with heavy guitar underneath. "Mirror of Souls" has the edge on recording quality, though its mix is loud enough to grow fatiguing after 67 minutes, which I wish didn't happen. Hopefully, "Theocracy" will receive the audio treatment it absolutely deserves, perhaps the best of all their albums to date, and recording quality, mixing, and mastering can all contribute to that auditory awesomeness. Adding real drums, louder than the drum machine in all likelihood, will present further challenges to Matt, but I hope he comes through.
