there is definitely a ghost in my house

Dude, read my post I linked to earlier in this thread, there's really nothing else I can say. I don't claim its "ghosts" in the literal sense, just something supernatural.

I don't mean to sound insulting or condescending, but I would bet anything that what you experienced could be explained rationally.

Think of the set-up.... Pitch black room, strange music playing, your friend claimed that they had done it all before.....that alone is enough to make any sceptic roll his eyes. It's the exact scenario that millions of other kids create when they're trying to scare somebody real good. I've been there myself multiple times.

If it seemed like someone was throwing coins and knocking on something, someone was throwing coins and knocking on something.
Somebody was really prepared to freak you out. Maybe another person was there that you weren't aware of, the possibilities are endless. I've had several friends go way out of there way to try and freak me out, but I cannot be freaked out. I had a friend whose parents wanted to scare everybody all the time and most of the time they succeeded.

If it was me, I would have exhausted every possibility to discover the trick, and if I was unsuccessful I would have delivered ass whoopings until somebody spilled it. :p

Again, I'm not trying to make fun of you, it's just my standard sceptical approach to everything. I've encountered this type of thing countless times.

I'm not gonna try to convince you, since you obviously aren't open to it - but all I can say is I was and am 100% certain they weren't in on it.

again..... someone answer me. let's say you see a bicyle ghost, what is he going to do run you over??? i admit it's spooky a little but beyond that they are harmless. if there are ghosts i would love to be confronted in that situation just to see what happened. so they walk around a little, big deal.

I don't necessarily fear bodily harm, it's the speculation that inevitably arises from the sheer unknown that scares the hell out of me

I for 100% surely believe in ghosts. I've experienced way to much to ignore it.

I have a sort of half-sister where I occassionaly stay. About 10 years ago see was completely into whichery and stuff. In those times she actually invited the spirits/ghost to fill her house. Now a lot of years later her house is haunted. When I'm there you can hear people walking on the 1st floor, while there is actually NOBODY! Objects in the house move around without even someone touching it. There are shadows in the house from human forms moving around (no it's not a car or something passing by)!
I've allready experienced that on more occassion in several houses.

I've experienced the real "exorsism" stuff, and I tell you, the movie might be fun to watch, but you really freak out when you see it real life!

With whichery included, it's pretty much not only walking around and stuff. The also can physicly hurt people, rape people and injure them!

On the contrary, I am 100% open to it, as I am to anything that people can provide solid evidence for.
Skepticism isn't the same as close-mindedness. I know tons of credulous, superstitious people who feel absolutely sure that they have experienced the paranormal - even in the face of opposing evidence. Even in those situations that can easily be explained, they would rather dismiss that evidence in favor of their personal intuition, which more often than not cannot be trusted....especially when one has a soft spot for the supernatural.

Then why can't you just prove that and film it?

You're kicking ass in this thread amigo.:kickass:

No, but the mind can.

Just as it often does when you're under the influence of drugs, when you're sleep deprived, when your vision is blurry, when it's foggy or dark outside, when a peripheral reflection or shadow moves unexpectedly, when the wind blows, when a structure settles, when somebody particularly crafty has completely bamboozled you or any other of a myriad of scenarios in which a rational explanation could be easily achieved if people were only willing to suspend their infatuation with pseudoscience (and all the other garbage that takes up more space in our brains than it should) long enough to find it.

That was some sentence!

Unfortunately, the reality behind an unusual experience is usually just not as fascinating and it makes for a lame story. It makes lame TV and lame books. Just like people being positively gone when they're dead isn't a very heart warming notion, nobody wants to figure out what that crazy thing was that they saw - they'd rather go on believing that it was a paranormal experience because paranormal experiences are fucking awesome!

I prefer to be awestruck by the power and complexity of the human mind and the seemingly transcendant properties of our consciousness rather than waste my wonder on patent bullshit. It is a little harder to do however.....:)

I can't think of anything either. I'm pretty sure we can photograph anything the eye can see. Which then questions the validity of claims that ghost can only be photographed with a special camera. Forget the name but it captures "electrical fields/spectrums". To me it's utter bullshit. If you can see a ghost then you can film it or take a picture.

aramism: I would be questioning the bike the whole time..... as far as I'm concerned a bike can't die. So what's it doing there in the 1st place?

There are no ghost! There is no God. We don't have souls. Seems to me that people fear death and life it's self. Rationalizing that there is a after life in whatever form seems to settle a worried mind. Even if that rationalization is a bit scary it still gives some hope against the fact that you have no real purpose here. You will die, there will be nothing after. Sounds like a very grim view of things but I'm happy with it and don't dwell on it. In other words I'm enjoying life regardless of my end date. Do you remember how you felt before you where born? Me to! it's just like that.

I don't find it grim at all. My personal motto of sorts, concerning death:

I was dead for billions of years before I was alive, when I'm done being alive, I expect it will be no different.

This is, for me, far more comforting that fantasising about being swept away to paradise for eternity. I don't have to worry about regrets or longings or any of the other things that will fill your mind on death's doorstep. I know that they will all disappear, just as I will - and hopefully a pleasant memory of me is the only thing that will live on in the minds of my loved ones.

I never really believed in ghosts, but believed something else other than us existed. So, this day I went to some spiritism shit my wife liked to attend at the time, and a woman interviewed me, and suddently she was 'another person'. A spirit or something got into her and she started talking all kinds of shit, including that i had a pain in the left side of my body ( I still have, my arm, back and leg ALWAYS hurt from a little bit to too much) and that was caused by 'someone' who never forgave some shit i did. This scared the shit out of me as I never told anybody there i had this pain. I was also told some other shit when my wife had pregnancy problems that made me 100% sure that this something else exists. Not really ghosts, but something else.

Also, I recommend all of you to try to find and watch the documentary "seance" also by derren brown.... it will shed some light to some of the stuff posted here...(it can be found on youtube I think.)

Well, that's easy said. The only thing that can happen from that is that people will be sceptic about it. Ya' know well you tricked this or that.
I'd say, come over and experience!

It's also not that it happens daily. But it always appears on the moments when you actually least expect it!

Yeah I hear you there.

I have been to several peoples homes that claimed they where haunted. One such home is a family members home. Stayed there an entire month and nothing. Later I asked my Aunt why? She told me it was a month of relief for her. Guess ghosts and the like are allergic to me.

I should sucker money out of people and drive ghosts out of there homes. If ghost returns sorry no refunds....

Just like these "survivor" series on discovery. Yeah, so the guy is out in the desert for a week living off all he can find but there's a camera crew following him around as well. What about the "stuck on an island" series? Same old shit. These people could very well be actors can they not? What goes on behind the camera and while it's switched off is a whole different story, I think.
