these damn kids today with their cheat codes...

What bugs me is when people use the strategy guides for RPGs. The whole idea of those games is to figure out the puzzles and find stuff. What fun is it when you have a book telling you where everything is?

I will defend the use of strategy guides for use with RPGS following beating the game without it. You gotta go back and get all the secrets. If you don't, some RPG police should hunt your ass down and beat you to death like the dog you are. To do that I ran the counter in FFVII higher than it could count. Granted that was only up to 99:99 but that is seriously a long time but when you cut into Sephiroth with an X-summon of Knights of the Round and then mime that shit with your three other characters, their is a surreal joy in not only defeating your nemesis but utterly destroying him with your supreme prowess, smiting his ruin upon the gaping maw of the crater. But you shouldn't do that until after you've struggled through using your last phoenix down to revive the only character in your party that has revive magic and in a final misguided attempt to use your level 3 limit break to unexpectedly defeat him on the 3rd try despite how overmatched you are.

0sm0se: "kids suck because they want to utterly destroy their VG enemies w/ little to no effort. i'm A-OK because i want to utterly destroy my VG enemies w/ little to no effort, and hey look i paid $$$ for it"

codes can be fun once you beat a game. but it's absurd to hear kids complain about how they need cheat codes for real life. I wish Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance had some codes.. I wore the game out playing it so much.

Actually the only difference is actually deriving a benefit from the game by learning the value of hard work. I can't demand that children take a labor job for slave wages so I find demanding that they at least work for their joy is an adequate trade-off. and the only thing it costs is a little extra time and effort, those who wasted their money buying strategy guides are fools while I merely mooch off of websites with all the pertinent information posted should I require anything for my second play through in which I acquire all manner of secrets.
