I don't know what's more impressive....Maynard not missing a lyric or the fan fist pumping while he is being choked out. That's just all sorts of epic awesomeness.

Could've been. Not necessarily though. Look at what happened to Dimebag...

Yes, but that all happened in the blink of an eye.
This was a lengthy situation.

Also, there would have been lawsuits, possibly from BOTH sides.
Had there been, I would think we would have all read about it.

Anyhow, just my opinion.

Not saying it wasn't staged, you could be right. I will say though that there wouldn't have been lawsuits necessarily either. The same thing happened with Marduk last year when a fan went on stage and the singer of Marduk flipped the dude over. Two years ago at Maryland Deathfest, the bassist of DRI was on stage during Watain and one of the Watain dudes punched him out and it was caught on camera(one of the most poseriffic, piece of shit moves I have EVER seen from a band). No lawsuits. Not against the clubs (for lack of security intervention) or the bands.

Yeah, who knows. This was a big arena though.....
I would think there had to be at least ONE lawyer in the house who would have instantly approached the band or that guy. Hahahahahaha

I don't know much about Watain (and have no 0.0% desire), but they seem to be quite the douchebags by reputation. I don't even think this guy had control of where he was being surfed and they take some sucker punches at him for being too close (4:35 mark):

He wasn't just standing on the side of the stage watching like you make it sound....he ran to center stage and starting jumping around and dancing like a jackass and completely interrupting their set. I'm not sure I'd call punching him out a 'poseriffic' move -- it was deserved on his part.

The attacking crowd surfers thing is stupid though. E's justification for that is that there should be no crowd surfing or moshing in black metal or something along those lines.

The dude acted like a total douche and apologized for it after the fact, but that doesn't warrant being punched out. He made no motion to harm the other members or anything like that, was just being drunk and silly, interrupting their "aesthetic" or whatever no fun club registered dorks that like Watain like to call it. Fuck 'em. :D

Well you shouldn't be all drunk and silly and run onto a stage of a band who makes it pretty well known that their purpose is to promote the message of Satan, or whatever. No tea and crumpets there.

Metal music can be a multimedia artform. No reason aesthetic shouldn't be important...

I'm generally not one to defend Watain but completely back them on the MDF issue.

That shit's brilliant. Even if it's staged, it's hard to sing when you've got someone in a choke hold. So I say good game, sir. Good game.

Every single instinct in your body will cause you to do all that you can to restore your ability to breathe.

Unless you are piss drunk. I have seen many a drunk choked out in the ER by our cops while still trying to whip mine or another RN's ass. They didn't even blink at the cop until it was too late.

I don't care if Maynard went Jerry Lawler on Kaufman or not, that was fantastic.

This one never fails to make me laugh no matter how many times I've seen it.....
