Think twice before you rush the stage....

Not to get off topic, but I have to ask.
Last year at SXSW, Chicago punk legends Screeching Weasel were involved in a situation where a fan threw ice on the stage.
Their singer who has a reputation for being a loudmouth jackass started throwing punches in the crowd, and then later was restrained by people from the fest on stage from behind. He turned around throwing a punch and hit a woman.
This was indeed real and NOT staged, but Ben Weasel was accused of hating women and being a pig.

Now when I read all your comments about the WATAIN thing, the consensus is, "Yeah, he deserved it"
Not arguing with that, but what if "he" was a "she"?????

I don't really have a point here, other than it made me think about how I felt when that SXSW thing went down.

I always felt like Ben was made out to be a beast, when he just reacted like other bands have been.
No women were "Targeted" etc. Because of all the negative press, his WHOLE band quit just a couple days later.
If it were a guy that was attacked, he would have been a punk rock hero.

Here is the vid, in case you haven't seen it:

Unless you are piss drunk.

It's true, I had a friend act like he was choking me at the bar one time. Next thing I know I'm waking up on the floor. Didn't feel a thing or ever even know I was in trouble. He thought I was acting until I asked what happened

I don't know if it is staged or not. I do find it interesting that when another fan jumped on the stage that security was quick to get him off. But, it could have been that they decided that Maynard had it under control and decided to do nothing until the song was over. The guy was being rather passive.

That shit's brilliant. Even if it's staged, it's hard to sing when you've got someone in a choke hold. So I say good game, sir. Good game.

I actually just taught that hip throw to a bunch of junior wrestlers recently - I don't carew if it was staged, it was pretty epic, and the vocals sounded fine before, during, and after.

Of course, a rear naked choke should have 2 arms involved... hence the staged nature... but still awesomely funny.
