Yeah the PSA is a great workhorse on bass. I think the best examples I have of are these clips:

I love all the Sansamp stuff too. BDDI has more of a saturation sort of distortion and can't get you the grind of the PSA-1. It'll add more clank and presence and can sound terribly close to a SVT stack. Had a band coming last year with a big SVT rig and after micing it up and a couple of hours of work getting the Bass Sound right I just thought to myself that I could have gotten the almost same result with the BDDI in like 15 minutes. At least in the mix the differences would have been negligable. Very similiar!
I had a PSA1 years ago but sold it since I've got the BDDI, the classic Sansamp Pedal (cool for Pain style guitars with a Post EQ and Bass in parallel as well) and finally I think the Plug In in Pro Tools is one great example of hardware modeling done right. It's very close to the hardware.
 
Have someone compared bddi against MXR m80? I see that fearcomplexmusic like m80 a lot and it would be closer for my budget at the moment.
