Can anyone pleeeeeeeeeeease help me to get this kick sound. Its a very Joey Sturgis sounding kick, and ive been trying for months and months, and still cant seem to get it to sound the same.
Im using Slate, kick 10, and ive read all the FAQs and threads on his forum, but still cant get it to sound the same. You can check out my soundcloud to see how close I am, but it doesnt have that clear/wet sounding hit that this kick has. It makes the breakdowns punch so much harder, and gel with the guitars.

If someone made a video tutorial on how to do it, I would even paypal some money for getting me the sound. thanks for any help.

sounds like there are several kicks mixed? You wont get there just using the slate samples. You have to do some postprocessing. Tapesaturation, EQ and maybe two different compressors. One hitting hard with a slow attack and a fast release. The other with a very fast attack and a mid release.

there's nothing special about this kick. I got a sound just like that in a mix recently with a metal foundry kick and some basic EQ. just experiment a little more, or else you'll never know how to achieve a particular kick sound for a client without relying on other people

i will be happy to know how you did it :)

Ok, so (using SSD3.5) I loaded up 2 instances of kick10, set both of their level sliders to -6.0db and changed the highlighted settings to this:

Then on it's own separate track in your DAW, apply these inserts in this order with these settings:

(With ModernCompressor and ModernDeathcore, load the preset highlighted and then change the settings highlighted.)

EQ>FerricTDS>ModernCompressor>ModernDeathcore>ModernDeepPurple

These are all free, FerricTDS by Variety of Sound and the last 3 by Antress Modern Plugins. Easy enough to find with a quick Google search. So yea... there ya go!

Thanks man! well it make me a little disappointed since i dont have SSD :(

+1 if you know where to look and choose properly, free plugins are awesome!

kick 10 - 200hz scoop - transient designer

jeez

and btw, that "twhip" sound it's got to it is the result of tape simulation being applied on the 2 bus.

transient designer to pull out some attack? i almost got a similar sturgis like kick sound using an envelope designer and pulling out a liiiiittle attack. just enough to still have some thwack and that squishy transient sound just before the thwack.
