I'm less excited although they are alot of great bands gonna be there. Like Pathosray, Iced Earth, JOP, but Last years line up was great because of Pagan's Mind i had been waiting years to see them. It was worth the money to see them and meet them and Redemption..I'm not even sure i am attending but i was the same way last year cause of money..Its still going to be a good PP.. I guess Pagan's Mind was the highlight last year for me. Anyway thats my thoughts..

Had to vote for last year just because that lineup was like an all star lineup: Raintime, Primal Fear, Sonata, Freak Kitchen , Vanden Plas (almost), Threshold, and Firewind. I'm looking foward to this year though.

Every year, Glenn announces at least 4 bands I have never heard.
This year, it is 9 (so sue me, I have less time to listen than most).
I get to spend the next 7 months listening/discovering/enjoying 9 bands I have not thought of before.

To me, the journey is just as important as the destination--so I am equally excited every year.

Last year I was almost disappointed that I was really familiar with nearly all the bands. Historically it's been more bands I was not familiar with and that's part of the fun for me. That said, I was out of my mind to see After Forever last year, and this year I'm pretty darned stoked to see Iced Earth so all in all, I'm about the same level of excitement this year as last.

No contest. Firewind, Raintime, Primal Fear, and the most criminally overlooked band from last year Communic.

Not only am I excited about this year's line-up more so than last years, but there are some other things to celebrate this year and it makes me more excited than ever.

1) Mrs & Mr. Claus Jensen party for those that can't make wedding.( Tess and Claus)
2) Alicia's birthday that weekend(Dragongrrrrrl)
3) As of today 99% probability I will retire Sept 30, 2008

I'm more excited for this years line up. At this point the only band I don't care to see is Rob Rock and that's only because I'm not familiar with his solo stuff AT ALL. Even when I'm not all that in to a band I usually try to check out part of their show because a lot of times they translate better live and I end up becoming a fan after seeing them perform.

Thank youuuu, John! We look forward to celebrating all of the above as well!!!

P.S. I looooove that you put "Mrs." first, heh ....

Less excited, overall, but I'm excited to see at least 50% of the roster. It sure won't stop me from sending Glenn a check for my badge in the next couple of weeks, & attending the fest.

this year is cool and all but last year so many of those bands were just killer for me, like i probably like the same amount of bands but the bands last year i just liked more.

you had frickin primal fear, pagans mind, freak kitchen, sonata, threshold (although i was sad they didnt play my favorite song by them), firewind (which put on a WAY better than expected show), i love lance kings voice, and krucible absolutely stunned me with how good they were. Vanden plas would have been there but eh we know how all that turned out.

like primal fear, pagans mind, freak kitchen, and sonata are all in like my top 15 fav bands easy, so i was pretty excited, and then to top it all off you had the god damn all star jam?! and seeing the crew play was memorable to.

dude, props on this years line up, but last years was just too good. the only complaint i had about last year was after forever being a headliner, but thats personal opinion so its all good.

im excited about this year too, dont get me wrong, but it was almost like i handed glen a piece of paper with my top 15 bands and just said hey, pick about half the roster off of this would you? okay thanks.

this year im actually looking forward to pathosray the most, i wish they had enough time to perform their entire album, i am so glad those guys got their name out enough to get put on this list.

I'm still on the fence with this one. I am really stoked to see that Pathosray, Serenity, S.U.E., Andromeda, Iron Savior and Elvenking are on the bill. I've seen Iced Earth with Barlow and he'll be around for a while. It's not this is a one time reunion because IE will tour at some point. I'm not crazy about Riverside, Volbeat, Rob Rock, Amorphis and I could do without J.O.'s Pain.

The showcase is going to be the decider for me *cough*Primal Fear*cough* or perhaps *fart*Vanden Plas*fart* on whether or not I attend this year.

Keep in mind that one of the reasons Barlow was brought back in is that Jon is looking to mainly play special shows rather than touring anymore (primarily due to ongoing issues with his neck/back). His body is having trouble standing up to the rigors of playing so many shows so close together. Given Matt's extremely busy personal schedule (job & family), the lack of having to tour was a huge perk for Matt. I'm sure they will play other U.S. shows, but the days of full blown tours for IE appear to be over.

More excited! 2 extra bands, a now-rare Iced Earth appearance, and one of the most diverse, yet somehow balanced line ups ever. We've got everything from Elvis to Jesus playing at this fest.

Oh Glenn... thank you...

Depends on how you look at it...
As far as the roster goes, last year was more exciting for me overall, with so many favorite bands like Pagan's Mind (favorite band and performance of last year), Primal Fear, After Forever, Threshold, Firewind, Sonata Arctica, Freak Kitchen and Communic (definitely the most underrated performance of last year), not to mention the adventurous All-Star Jam (Pagan's Mind/Nils version of Take Hold of the Flame, the duet of Who Wants to Live Forever with Ralf and Floor to mention just a couple of highlights).
And while there are some very exciting bands this year as well, such as the more established Iced Earth, JOP, Amorphis and several much anticipated newer bands Riverside, Pathospray, Andromeda and Spheric Universe Experience; there aren't as many pre-existing favorites.
This being said, I look forward to PPUSA with equal anticipation and excitement every year, regardless of the exact line-up, and I am sure pleasant surprises will abound as usual. The only downside being the long travel for those not local to Atlanta, Georgia. Nevertheless, it remains the best and most exciting progressive/power metal festival in America - period. May it continue to thrill us year after year!
