THOR official trailer

Unfortunately, as much as I hate 3D and find it to be a gimmick, it might not go away so easily. From what I've been reading, 3D is responsible for about 70% of total ticket sales, overall, in the US. I'm glad that we don't offer 3D at my theater, but the way things or going, that might change in a few years.

That's because people are stupid and lemmings. They will all follow the crowd, and go out and buy "the next big thing".

the only good comicbook movies I have seen are animated, and not marvel. Wonder Woman,Batman/Superman,Jonah Hex(short). It might just be me,but I don't care I love what comics I love, and i hate what I have, and live action comic movies for the most part i hate,so of course i will watch it but only when Rifftrax gets hold of it.

Dark Knight? Batman Begins? Kick Ass? Scott Pilgrim? Sin City? Thought these were all fantastic comic book adaptations.

All of those were great, although I don't really know what I thought about Scott Pilgrim, that movie still messes with my mind after only seeing it once the night before it came out. I THINK I liked it... And you forgot Watchmen in that list.

Watchmen was just OK. And that's being nice. It wasn't terrible, and it wasn't even bad. In fact, I own it on Blu Ray. However, there are a bunch of faults with it (the biggest being I don't see anyone being able to enjoy it without reading the graphic novel.)

Watchmen SUCKED!!!!! It had awesome visuals, I will give it that. It just seems like the sort of movie that shouldn't have been made. In other words, the source material seemed too large for an adaptation and they didn't know how to cut things down and make it cohesive.

I think they did it the exact way it should have been done. Something like that doesn't NEED an adaptation, it needs to basically be word for word because of all of the subtleties within. Hell, this is coming from me who owns the 5 disc version or whatever it is that winds up being well over 3 hours long. I can watch it in one sitting and never look at my watch wondering when it's done. That said, I was a huge fan of the graphic novel.

Is this the one with the Black Freighter cartoon? Now THAAAT sucked donkey balls. So bad.

I thought the cartoon was alright, but definitely not on the same level as the film itself. The fact that it was left out of every version, with the exception of the one I have, is a good thing because it definitely does stray from the film a bit. It was something that belonged in the comic, but definitely not in the film.

It was awful. Don't need to see Gerard Butler in anything else besides 300. Dude can't act.

As for the film itself, the movie kind of failed as a film and wound up being a supplement to the graphic novel. If you never read the source material, there are a lot of parts in the movie that make no sense. For example, Rorschach referring to Night Owl as Dan for the whole movie, but in once instance calls him just "Dreiberg" without any explanation to new eyes that Night Owl's name is Dan Dreiberg. Or the lack of mentioning that Adrian Veidt's character is German-born and was so disgusted by his Nazi parents that he spoke in an American accent in public but to his comrades he spoke with his native accent. It must've sounded weird for him to change accents like that and nobody would know why. This is poor scriptwriting 101 and the movie is cluttered with shit like this. It really kept it from becoming a great standout film. As Simon said, the project was too big to really make it a great film though.

Your opinions of Gerard Butler and the movie aside, I quite enjoyed Law Abiding Citizen, and Butler was a big reason why.

Yeah maybe to you, but to me they are just average movies, nothing special. Batman is hard to look at if, Kevin Conroy is not doing the voice, even Under the Redhood, follows the story to the Tradebacks really well, but Bruce Greenwood as batman, and Bender as the Joker and not Mark Hamill big mistake. Batman comics is kind of my thing, and has been for a while so it's really hard to watch the dumb live action movies, and enjoy them. As far as the other movies I don't follow the comics or gn of them at all so I'm just going by what the movies are,and I'm still sure the books are 100x better than any of the movies like any book to movie story, but I just don't care enough to even look into them. The Superman/Shazaam movie I got it on bluray, and it's only about 30 min. way more fun, wish Tim Daly did sm,but oh well still check out the short film of The Spectre with Gary Cole doing the voice it was spooky and amazingly dark! Better than the Captain Marvel/Superman story.

Scott Pilgrim is awesome and I was disappointed more people didn't go see it. Then again, it isn't your "typical" comic book adaptation.

I was ultimately disappointed with Watchmen, because I thought Snyder couldn't capture the soul of Watchmen. Given what I saw in Kick Ass, I probably would have rather that Matthew Vaughn had directed it. Personally, I was more curious how Paul Greengrass would have updated the concept for a modern world.

My issues with Scott Pilgrim isnt really the film but all the fake buzz before hand and I cant stand Micheal Cera. Also all the people rallying behind it about 8 Bit video games were not even born yet when those games were around so that drove me nuts. The reason it tanked was that I know lots of people who just saw it as a sfx movie that looked really goofy. Films like this have a certain audience and that is it.

I liked Watchmen but it was just a faithful adaptation with a few updates. It seemed like watching a movie with no soul or heart to it. I didnt care about what was happening where while reading the book over and over you still do. I think they put to much effort in keeping the visuals the same and not working on characters and story. I still think this would have worked better as an HBO mini series.

Why do you care so much about fanbase? Every post from you is always some sort of moanfest about "hipsters this and that." Who cares that they weren't born yet? They're entitled to like oldschool games even though they weren't born when they came out... Drop the elitism. Of course, I didn't think you would like that film because it's fun, taps into hipster culture, and is not serious business. Do you hate puppies too?

I disagree. I thought he captured it really well actually. In fact, some of those performances re-defined my perception of the character and made them even stronger than I could in my own head, which is rare. Rorschach's performance in particular, was absolutely incredible -- as was The Comedian's. I also thought everything from the costumes, to the visuals, to the soundtrack captured the soul of the graphic novel quite well and the overall story came really close to being a great standalone film. But, my big problem was that the script was loaded with issues, enough to make the film confusing to people who never read the graphic novel.

Well, I wouldn't say the buzz was fake. Certainly those pushing the film were passionate about it and even with the hype, the film still exceeded my expectations. Then again, I came in to it after reading all the graphic novels. I do think that a lot of the intended audience did end up seeing the film via previews.

I can kinda understand the Cera fatigue a bit, tho I was unaffected by it since this was actually the first film I've seen with him. The problem is, he probably was the perfect actor for the role.

What I don't get is some of the intense hatred some have toward this film. There certainly was a section that was rooting against this film, and I just don't get that. Personally, it ranks as one of the best 10 films of the year, IMO.

Speaking of other comic book adaptations, it is going to be interesting to see how this affects Edgar Wright, who's still attached to write and direct "Ant-Man". Last I heard, he was still working on the script.

Probably, tho I wonder at times if we are too far removed from the times when Watchmen was created. I think it is difficult to get into the mindset of the times when we still had the cold war and potential looming doom hanging over our heads. That's part of what we were missing in the movie, since we were spending so much time with getting everyone's backstory right.
